Too many people depend on the water supply from Lake Powell. Stop trying to get them to drain it.

What feeds into it? Anything created since droughts worsened over the last few decades? Or people just crossing fingers?

Feeding Lake Powell is the Green, Colorado and San Juan Rivers. Plus manny smaller streams and washes. The only thing created was a tier based restrictions on consumption. I’ll send you a map and tier explanation. I predict by mid summer both lake Powell and Mead will be full, has anyone seen how much the Colorado mountains have gotten snow wise and same goes for the wasatch and uintas, winter is far from over and the eruption of HungaTunga last year has been flooding the whole world ever since so calm down theres lots of water coming soon
@DesertRatExploration
@DesertRatExploration Жыл бұрын
That’s a bold statement which, I hope your correct on. But that’s a lot of water we are talking about. Let’s see what happens.

@@DesertRatExploration well i live in slc utah and we have been getting a ton of snow this year and so is Colorado and winter is far from over, they built a huge dam up by park city like 25 years ago and they said it would take 50 years to fill it well they were wrong cuz i got fill in 1 year and the eruption of the Hunga Tunga volcano ejected 4× more water into the atmosphere than what mt pinatoba did back in 93 and slc utah that year got 4 feet of snow in the valley and that was awesome so i think there is a really good chance both of them lakes will be full by mid summer
@scottvanzant1149
@scottvanzant1149 Жыл бұрын
I think it would take a decade of this snow pack to refill the lakes
@DesertRatExploration
@DesertRatExploration Жыл бұрын
@@scottvanzant1149 it took 17 years to fill. While at that time of its rise was sacrificing Lake Meads allotment to increase the filling of Lake Powell.

@@sextoyrepairman1621 The northwest jet stream moved way up north allowing all these storms from Alaska to nail the west coast and rockies etc. Next year is supposed to be even more storms.

Visual lake levels. You can see where the lake is with a accurate video as of March 2023. Instead of generic clips of Lake Powell with information that can be looked up.

I agree. The lake is needed for water. Far more people enjoy those canyons by boat than those few who do serious hiking. Fill it back up and leave it alone. What happened to this country. Majority should rule and not the ones with the biggest mouths. Far more benefit from the lake. That's why it was built so many years ago.

The Colorado River basin is in Western Colorado, Eastern Utah and parts of Wyoming. It hasn't started to melt yet so we won't see it's impact for another several months. It is some 150% of average, it will only raise this lake by 20 feet or so is my guess. We need several snowy years to get the lake to it's normal range.
@dansherwood9851

@@dansherwood9851 I did see one story later saying experts are expecting it to rise 40 feet or so. That's good news for all of us.
@beezer5623

@@ItsEricAZ only 20 feet? You say it like its not alot. That is an enormous amount of water. If the lake rises by 20 feet, that also means all the water consumption is covered as well no? Am I calculating it wrong in my brain? lol
