Lake Russell Produces FISH and FUN

Launching from Allen Creek Boat Ramp on Lake Hartwell typically produces a fun day for me. I have had amazing success in the past, with personal best catfish and bass coming from this lake. Today, I worked on lures I am not very good with, primarily the frog, speed worm, and jig, before switching when the bite wasn't working. I used a shaky head to turn the day around and put several more fish in the kayak.

Oh yeah, I was there last year for an event. I really like that and Cooley. When I go up that area, I always stop by Cole's Baitshop and Tackle. Those dudes are awesome!

You should Russell is where my PB came from on three speicieis. You won't be dinging many docks though. It's mostly "all natural" as they say.

What line and rod set up were you using? For your worm, the green teal rod. And what part of Russell is this if you don’t mind me asking

I don't mind. That was a Shimano medium-heavy spinning rod with a Piscifun Prism reel. I use Diawia Sumari. I use Berkley X9 20lb braid with about 20 feet of fluorocarbon 10lb Yozuri T7 leader. The Yozuri is a really skinny line so it's perfect for this clear water. Ask me anything, I don't mind.

Russell is the most underrated lake we have. I think you asked me the other day about fishing it. If I were going out on Russell right now, I would want to launch from Millwood Ramp, Calhoun Falls, SC 29628. Work the points and laydowns in the pockets. A chartreuse crankbait, green pumpkin rage toad, Heddon spook, and any finesse techniques (wacky or shaky head for sure) will catch them. They might be out a little deeper, but the great thing about Russell is you can find standing timber to target in deeper water.

Hey buddy how you doing? What a good video man. I like how you went into details with things. That's awesome that you have A favorite place that you like to go kayaking at. I was supposed to go kayaking 🛶 today with my family except for my wife Who had to work but I've been having problems with my foot Swelling up on me & I am having problems trying to walk because it hurts so bad. I can feel water inside my foot. After just being on my Kayak 🛶 I thought that this year was going to be better for me. I got a doctor appointment next week to see what going on. Brother, please just keep your head up high. Things can go wrong when they shouldn't but it's never as bad as tell ourselves.
