Hell to the no, nothing like Prince. Please don’t insult his spirit, he be turning in his grave right now. The original was by The Pointer Sisters and overall, was much better than this version when it was recorded way back in 1983 (40 years before this cover). A good effort on the chorus but I’d dump the rest of this version of the song.

that is a statement I can agree with. this song was written by a couple of fellas (by the names of Walsh and Goldenberg), and then The Pointer Sisters made it a hit in 1984. It's an amazing song, and I think this band really does it justice.

I had forgotten/never realized that this was by the Pointers. Just one of those catchy 80's tunes that everyone remembers, one of the better ones. Such a bad era, in terms of what was selling big anyway. Aside from Prince. Anyway, this tune always reminds me of another, similarly titled tune of the time, Michael Sembello's "Automatic Man". Somewhere amidst the awful synths and gated drums there's a really nice, melodic song in there! It's always been a guilty pleasure of mine, from the guy that helped on Songs in the Key of Life but is only remembered for "Maniac". You can really hear the Stevie in Sembello's vocal! I'd love it if y'all could do a cover of that too!
