Howdy! Guys and gals. Chris (The crazy ex-Amish) and I spent a week exploring the Apostle Islands in beautiful Lake Superior. I hope this further inspires folks with an interest in shanty boats to realize you can go almost anywhere with a good one. Pick your days, and the whole world is your home. :)

Brent: I lived in Northern Maine and Northern NH for 25 years. Did a lot of stream and lake fishing. Best deterrent for black flies is the biggest cheapest cigar u can stand. I don't smoke but when I fish I am a stogie guy. The goal is just to keep it lit. Lololol

@@rnupnorthbrrrsm6123 The truth is I could only stand to smoke one for 30 minutes or so, they did a number on my stomach LOL. Thats when I discovered that the best solution was to go fishing with two or three guys who loved cigars and couldn't smoke them at home because their wives hated 'em. It proved to be much more effective for clearing a large area of all kinds of bugs. Black flies in particular hate cigar smoke.

I have a small channel and it is so weird when someone mentions that they watch it. A younger gal at the local market was ringing up my items a while back and mentioned that she watches. I was surprised. When I wrote the column a lot more people knew of me because the little weekly paper covered all of western Crawford County PA. That was fun up until the until the dam black flies I hate those things so much that it keeps me from heading back to the north country. Try this one thing I’ve used in Florida when the yellow flies go crazy. Buy a box of laundry dryer sheets rub them all over your skin and clothes and on the Wavey tuck them under the back of your hat and let it hang over your neck roll one into each sleeve put extras in a zip lock bag to reapply as needed and if nothing else you’ll smell better. It works great in Florida for sure. If you rub a little mineral oil on the rocks there luster will return or spray with clear coat that is the best way to keep seashells and such shiny. Okay enjoyed the ride let’s rock and roll on to the next adventure and Wavey I declar marshal law lashings will continue until morale improves.

@@psycologicalprepper3052 Are you sure you're not "Psychopathalprepper" buddy? What more can I do than you already see. We got out of there as fast as possible, ran to the shore and wind. I swat them off. They attack humans and dogs. Maybe you need to join your buddy in the bushes of Tennessee.

Either give the dog the treat, or don't, but don't play stupid pet tricks. All you do is frustrate and confuse the animal for absolutely no reason. Be smarter.
