Lake Tahoe homeowners told to act fast as bears look to houses for a place to stay

The Bear League in Lake Tahoe is telling homeowners to secure their homes because of bears' tendency to use crawl space under a house as a den.

If I had enough money to build a house near lake Tahoe, I'd build it on pylons and soundproof the floor. Then id turn the space under it into a natural-ish cave that opens below and on the other side just so the critters would have a place to go and nobody would bother anyone. If a bear wants to use it, no problem. I dig the concept of sharing

And then you walk out one beautiful spring morning to a somewhat skinny, surprisingly ballsy, and extremely hungry bear that almost immediately begins running at you before trying to find its way inside(if thats the route you'd decide to take)

@@badhabits8492 he's fine with the attacking. I'm a local but he isn't smart on the bear den place mainly bc he's gonna have to deal with the bear is the scattered trash around his property. Bears here are pretty docile, alot of local take the short time to take pics and vids then go on with our day or night. but we understand that their wildlife and shouldn't be having human contact. That's what a Zoo is for. Plus there's 2 steps before a bear actually attacks you is huffing and them bluff charges, AL you have to do is walk away slowly and then go another route and mind yourself, hell most of the bears here will run up trees before that and stay up there for hrs

@@tristantimothy1004 they aren't grizzlies now ive been living here for 18 years, even then man just gotta know where you are and what you're dealing with, like take shark attacks, most sharks are docile but attack due to their bad eye sight.

i like the electric matt..had a few homes in Tahoe never had bear problems but people problems to many bears there and no hunting season to reduce the amount

Yes, actually. If they don’t have food, fresh berries, etc. they will eat US. The feds release bears in those areas on purpose to kill bears and humans!!

My advice to you is this: Act fast as bears. Look for houses for a place to stay. They are better than mud puddles. Also, my hair is made of pudding.

@H D where do bears live. In remote wilderness places. When people build homes there, the bears are already there.
