I feel like LFG is one of those people who might enjoy catching crappie more than large mouths, and I respect that because I'm the same way. I often catch crappie and just release all of them. I know they're good eating, but it's just fun catching them on a light/ultralight spinning rig.

May I suggest when vertical judging that you hover over the crappie from tail to noes with the jig very slowly. When on bed’s crappie won’t bite as much but this tactic works almost every time. It believe the crappie feel the bait creep up from behind them with their lateral line and it makes them think more predatory then they see the bait above them and act on instinct. I promise you’ll catch more fish when sight fishing and it might become a new addition in the spring!

I was fishing on a lake one time while a FLW tournament I did not know was going on. It was real windy day. Had caught three bass. From what I heard most didnt catch any and the winner only scaled one fish. I think they were mad being anchored in the slew. So none would fish near where we were. Just a mature black crappie wasnt it? The hump on their nose gets really defined when matured, and the black stripe is wider on both white and black crappie. I am not saying it wasnt a hybrid but i didnt see it.
@tatertots-n-soup Жыл бұрын
Doesnt hybrid have a short top fin or cont8nuios or has an angle on it that is different honestly i dont remember all the species hybrids. Dont have them and dont want them in my area. Mostly white crappie here. Some blacks mixed in. I can travel 40-60 in different directions and go after the big big blacks. Assumming they arent all fished out from guys with live scope by now.

The Magnolia Crappie is easy to recognize. Instead of being located by underwater trees, the trees grow through the Crappies. So you just need to snag the tree to bring them in. Sorry for the bad humor. I just couldn’t resist. I live up north and it has been 6 months since I’ve been on open water. Season opens in 3 weeks.
