You should do a video of LFD's antique baits. Show us his collection and maybe tell us how he found them.

Gosh, what memories this brings back. I used to throw old wooden skipjacks, river runts and devils horses back in the 70's. Lived in Shreveport so like yall, I had access to a lottttt of great fishing holes. Last time I fished Lake Fork was in 1987. Best day of fishin I EVER HAD!

My Grandfather had arthritis in both wrists so we trolled Douglas Lake in East TN. He had about every color of BOMBER and HELLBENDER. He had single and DBL prop Skip Jacks for top water. Rattle Traps, Thin Fins in all the colors. We had hours to talk about everything while trolling. Bass, Crappie and Saugers and a Walleye or 2. He was an Alcoholic when my Dad was young, got sober after I was born. He lost time with Dad, made up for it with me.

I’ve got my wife’s dad’s old lures on some old drift wood. Hanging in our screened in porch at Rayburn Country. Has a plaque with it as well.

Great line, “That thing is as stiff as a canoe.” It would be cool to have a video on antique baits or even a Googan Lab series on antique baits and how they have evolved.

This is probably one of my favorite top ten lures. Caught so many bass and northern pike with this lure as it looks like a real fish. This is a must in every Boundary Waters Trip.

I'm a Bomber lure collector. I have several hundred of the old wood Bomber baits. They definitely will still catch fish. Back in the day, Bomber held quite a few records, including the world record small mouth bass from Dale Hollow lake, a white 600 size model if I remenber correctly. Good luck, I enjoyed this. Thanks, John

I inherited my families fishing gear, since I'm the last avid angler in our family (working on my wife and daughters). One of my favorite rods is a 1973 GarciaConolon fast-action medium rod. I have a bunch of modern setups but the GarciaConolon rod was my mom's walleye rod when she was about 10 and it has a great feel to it. Also have a bunch of old Rapala lures that I think are balsa wood, old Arbogast jitterbugs and these half duck lookin crank/swim baits. Some of that stuff doesn't get used as much as typical texas/ned rigs, Googan Bangers, Yo-zuri poppers etc etc. But they all work all as good as one another

Great vid. First of yours I've seen, so hit sub. Been soaking bait and tossing lures over 60 and have stuff I use from the 20s through the 80s. I even have a few from the 1800s. Not just lures; I have my old poles from as far back as the 50s like my Pflueger Rocket No 1955 on the South Bend rod. While very little is set aside as novelty and collector pieces, I still use over 90 % fishing. Nine tackle boxes, a six drawer dresser full of lures and terminal tackle to go with my 18 rods. Mostly Penn, Abu Garcia, and Mitchell for both salt and fresh. Us old farts got all the cool stuff LOL
