We love your videos Tyler. I have a 9yr old son who has learned everything from you and your channel. It’s so rewarding seeing his passion. He picked up a rod 2 months ago for a fishing clinic here at our lake and he’s been on fire ever since. I just had to say thank you for these videos. Your knowledge, advice, personality and experience is so refreshing. I had no idea how much fun fishing would be. These past 2 months have been such a neat bonding time with him…..and knowing that he’s probably watched everyone of your videos and now I’m watching and learning. Any chance I could ask for an autograph for him? Any time your in Missouri come fish here at our two lakes here in Lake St. Louis.

I really like your scientific approach to explaining things. It really helps me adapt what you say to my personal waters. Also I really like looking at fishing that way, because in a sense fishing is really at its core learning what fish do and why they do it.

Just got a fishing kayak and I'm new to fishing plastics (I usually fly fish) and I'm on a budget so I grabbed green pumpkin and black with blue flake to start with. I got 5 inch yum dingers for a texas rig and some 3 and a half inch sticko split tails for a ned rig. Hopefully it works! Hitting a small lake tomorrow and will use your tips. Thanks for explaining stuff. Your vids are the best Ive seen so far!

Update. I got out today and the lake was pretty stained. On my 1st cast with a Bobby Garland 2 inch pearl minnow on a jig head I got a nice crappie. It got to my head a lil. I thought I was a pro. Well I never caught another on it 😂 but I got numerous bluegill and the bait held up the entire day. I switched then to my 1st ever Texas rig. I used Black with blue flake because of the stained water. I casted it next to a sign post sticking out of the water and let it fall and sit. I gave it a couple lifts like you said and it felt heavy so I set the hook and started reeling it in and my line just goes flying through the water right under my gfs kayak and then line went slack. Whatever it was was huge! I guess I didn't set the hook hard enough. I might not of hooked the fish but I guess I'm hooked now! Lol. Keep up the videos! I actually got a huge fish to bite my 1st ever texas rig so you must be teaching people right!!!

Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, kzbin.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.

I have green pumpkin yamasenkos and bandito bugs. I use black and blue bandito bugs. I have PB&J worms for ned rigs and texas rig. Then i have 5 of diamond spoon, red devel, fire tiger, silver and gold. So far ive gotten fat smallies and pickerel. I agree that keeping the numbers low on colors helps streamline your arsenal. Another thing is you have to take into account thats sometimes, youll have a slow day with few bites.

9:54 wavelengths! Certain shorter color wavelengths can’t penetrate water that well. Yellow, red, and orange can’t penetrate as far as blue, or violet. If you scuba dive, you can see it really well that you can find an item on the bottom that becomes a completely different color when you bring it up

What are your thoughts on some of the old school colors like Pumpkin Seed & Motor Oil? I know Pumpkin Seed was the forerunner to Green Pumpkin......and it looks similar to the Sungill color you showed. You seem VERY well versed in the ongoing "Battle of Colors" which is honestly targeted at fishermen...not fish....since you know....fish dont buy baits lmao. I'd appreciate your take on the old school colors though.

I found your comment about a local body of water having specific baitfish and therefore leading to the use of specific colours interesting. But for me it's kind of the opposite. Where I am in Canada we don't have bluegill or crawdads so I ignore all lures in those colours... I think that's the right thing to do. Right?

'nother little tip - local walmarts especially ones with smaller tackle sections in my experience seem to carry only what works in the local waters (depending on what species you're searching for). Same with gas stations. Pay attention to what colors they stock. I love PBJ as my "light purple" from zman
