Hey LFG.... anytime you're out camping and you get sung to sleep by the whippoorwills it just isn't any better. Catching fish is just a bonus. I'm lucky enuff to live right on the banks of a small river here in North West FL and get to hear them every night from early spring to late July.....so peaceful and beautiful! You're a lucky man....pretty and understanding wife, lovely daughter, and being able to enjoy your dreams. Take care and keep em dangling!

This comment if pretty much for the Lake Life Channel. Just watched the latest video over there and just wanted to let you know LFG.. When you let your chickens out for the first time of the day just leave the door on the coop open. When it gets dark and the sun starts going down the chickens will go back in their coop to roost on their own. Then all you have to do is walk down and close the door. I have a back yard flock myself. I’ve had chickens since I was a kid and I’m 30 now. Just wanted to drop that little tip to ya! Keep up the great videos on both channels!!!! 👍🏻🇺🇸🐓

Makes me miss the days of backpacking. For a good snack that's packable, you can always dehydrate your own potatoes and other veggies. Make them nice and salty so you keep yourself hydrated on the hikes.

Those mountain houses are legit. Haven't had the spaghetti but the chicken and rice is 👍. Do yourself a favor and get the biscuits and gravy ones for your NZ trip you will not be disappointed. Also consider a Jetboil for your cooking system.

For your NZ trip, try using a bit more water than the dehydrated meal calls for and you can "drink" the meal straight from the bag rather than scoop it with a spork. Much less messy and no cleanup at all. Plus, if its cold and windy it makes for a nice hand warmer while eating. Also, get the biscuits and gravy with sausage meal and the breakfast skillet (just add a bit of your choice of hot sauce for a tex-mex breakfast) meal for your mornings. You won't regret either. Semper Fi

Love fishing the upper part of the lake also. No need to eat MRE’s when Broken Bow Lake has the best tasting fish hands down. The clear water make for great tasting fish. Been yearning for a good mess of crappie from the lake. Enjoyed watching the video of the area. Beautiful area

Welcome to my state! It’s not all “wild Indians” and tumble weeds! We have some nice Clear water lakes. Love the video! You always make your videos fun and light hearted. We have walleye,sauger,and saugeye . They will make you throw away all other filets! Best eating fish in freshwater! IMO.

Looks like a great time. I love camping but the older I get the harder it is on my body to sleep on the ground. If I camp for a weekend I need a day or two just to recuperate. Enjoy it while you're young.

Dude the biscuits and gravy mountain house one is the best! Also glad to see you up here in Oklahoma!
@snba46425 жыл бұрын
Not sure if someone else has said this yet but i will give it a shot. With mountain house meals and MRE meals, you don't need a long spoon. Turn the package sideways, then add the water or cut the pouch open. For some reason all of these packages are rectangular, but they want you to cut them open in the most difficult way.

I've done a lot of hiking on the A.T. and I think the beef stroganoff and the beef stew is the best ones. Most filling and taste the best, also I like to keep the the bag sealed a little long then what the bag says, to let it cool a little more.

Went on a canoe trip into the Boundary Waters in No MN in 81 and we ate Mountain House. Only thing that will mess up your plumbing is the 'textured vegetable protein' (read soybean meal). That can cause your system to have some internal adjustment time as it recalibrates. This too will pass..

Great vid lfg, use caution when your putting that green tank on to keep it point upwards. I had a dummy moment and froze the eff out of a finger from escaping propane gas.
@mikeanderson67495 жыл бұрын
Those mountain house meals take up a lot of space in a pack, but if you repackage them in ziplock bags or something similar it saves space. Then just right down the info you need for each meal, like amount of water and such.
@drifteroutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Do you have to use a propane stove in new Zealand? An iso butane or multi fuel stove that takes gas and diesel might be a lighter option.

Instead of mountain house, either you and OSG can make some meals like spaghetti or chili and other type of meals and dehydrate them. Then when your on the mountain you can just add water and they’re more healthier without those chemicals
