That other buck with the nice rack, OMG I can't stop laughing. He was eating, heard the shot, looked over and saw his buddy down, like what's wrong with Bill, OH SHIT! He hurdled that fence and got the hell outta there, like he turned his body when he jumped the fence like he had a hoof down vaulting over it 😂

The deer that jumped the gate when you shot your buck was definitely a trophy buck. I thought it was funny you played it back in slow mo, and as you was saying your buck wasn’t a trophy, the trophy was leaping the gate lol

It's all about shot placement. The buck that jumped out of the feed pen, looked older, his antlers were definitely bigger. That's a nice porch stand though, for sure.
@jasonhill63692 жыл бұрын
Antlers actually get smaller the older they get. A guy around here has 9 years of antlers from a buck and after year 6 they got smaller
@billwhite70992 жыл бұрын
@@jasonhill6369 that can be true, but the body doesn't generally shrink. If you look back at the shot the buck that jumps out toward the camera is clearly larger in body size.

Great shooting LFG, one way I’ve learned to guess the age on a deer is their nose, a young deer with have a longer more pointed nose while a older deer’s nose is more blunt and rounded. Great hunt and putting more meat in the freezer!

Nice buck my man. I can finally relate, I got my first buck ever this year. Only been into trying to hunt for the last 3 years, but as a truck driver my time to hunt is limited. My first year, someone else got one on the property where I live, the second year... well lets just say I learned valuable lessons on good scope mounts and sighting a rifle in. Had my scope and mount fall right off the rifle. I missed an AWESOME buck so many times that year. And trust me when I say my buddies did not let me live that down. But I got my first this year. 120 yrd frontal shot on a good 8 point. straight through the rib into lungs. He took 2 leaps and spun around and fell. All with a heavily upgraded 1942 Mosin Nagant. I'm hooked now. Love your hunting videos. Have a great holiday season!
@johnprestonii8712 жыл бұрын
Justin bro you have inspired me to get back out there and hunt. I grew up hunting but life and career kinda put a stop to that for the past 10 years or so. I definitely miss it after watching your videos. If you ever need a hunting buddy who you want to take under your wing, I’ll be thrilled to be that guy.

nice shootin LFG. one thing that i notice on many hunting videos is deer running off after being hit. of the many deer ive shot, ive had 1 run off. the rest drop straight down. 30-06,308,300blackout or 6.5 grendel is what i use. i usually take a heart, shoulder or neck shot.

I’m not too familiar with aging deer from Texas. I do know that they tend to have smaller bodies, however, where I’m from that deer doesn’t look a day over 4 at best and we don’t even have huge bucks around here. I understand tell the antler genetics in him suck, but his body doesn’t seem anywhere near 6 years old. Maybe I’m wrong. Let me know what you guys think👍🏼
@zach_6.8132 жыл бұрын
Where I’m from that deer looks 2.5-3.5 with those front legs being that short. Body isn’t real deep, neck doesn’t go way down in the brisket. Usually as a deer ages the front legs and shoulders continuously grow to where eventually the back levels out, and older deer, the front shoulders will eventually be higher than the rump.

Here’s a question: When retrieving a deer and processing it do you have to work around ticks(meaning cutting around them, or avoiding them), if so what do you do? (I’m from a place where there are little to no ticks, and no deer. The moose we hunt have no ticks)
