Thank you for the informative video. About the thermo valve, the manufacturer recomendation is when installing the valve to the tank Using a 1.5 in. crow’s foot applied to the valve’s base, torque the valve to 50ft.lbs (690kg.cm) (68Nm). That from the manual.

Hello David Levi, you would be correct. After 32 years in the Scuba Industry, thankfully, I have never had a valve blow off.

Christmas 23 I purchased an AL80 online. The Shop put an Inspection Sticker on it. Had it filled at a semi Local shop. I forget how long the Inspection was good for. Mine came with a Convertible Yoke to Din Valve.

Hello @chrisphilhower6029. Visual stickers are stamped they day the inspection is performed, and every year a new inspection is required.

We use a similar cascade system at our fire department. It’s a really nice, safe setup. All of us divers on the department use it to fill our SCUBA. Excited to see you using this!

Hello Nick Jarboe, cascade systems is the only way to go. Makes fills much faster and more efficient. Stay safe serving your community.

The Cascade Tanks is already Chilled. Versus filling from the Compressor.
@LakeHickoryScuba2 ай бұрын
Hello @chrisphilhower6029, this is typically correct. There are times though, when our cascade cylinders are hot due to ambient temperatures, or directly after we have replenished them.

The containment is pretty nifty. I remember they’d always fill tanks in a concrete block tank filled with water to help contain any ruptured tanks, and help cool them down on Bonaire. It’s nuts how hot cylinders get. I’d always make it a long process filling O2 cylinder up when we’d get them back from hydro so they would stabilize faster for leak checks.

Hello Caleb Mcelhaney, some shops will still use a water tank to fill cylinders.

Hello. I'm technically not new to SCUBA. There are stuff I already have learned since years. I just need improvents on my knowledge. I'm enjoying your videos so far and including behind the scenes. I haven't swimming for so long...witch it's not a problem for me. I'm just sitting back and learning. =)

@@LakeHickoryScuba yeah man, my department has a cascade system, and I love it, when I was a rookie, I got stuck on bottle fill duty and it got to the point I could tell by the "whistle" if it was a hot fill or not. I loved the video, it was great!!

I was always disappointed by the other filling station you have and shown in your videos. But this one is A++

Also how do you do nitrox with it? I see the small O2 Cylinders but another video including it would be sweet.
@LakeHickoryScuba4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Alex Benz, the smaller compressor system you see in our videos is the one we use for Nitrox fills. We have a continuous blend set up (Nitrox Stick) that is attached to it. The larger Bauer is used for all air fills.

Hey, interesting video and that Bauer compressor looks pretty nice! ONe question: Is the "blast" cabinet vented somewhere? Ie a blow off panel to outside or similar? 80CF of air getting out all at once makes for a pretty serious local over pressure! (i also like the the little blue overlapping secondary flap that drops over the door top when it's fully shut! Nice bit of design that :-)
@LakeHickoryScuba3 жыл бұрын
Hello Max. The containment unit is not sealed. So in the event of a ruptured cylinder, air can very easily escape. The metal housing protects the fill operator from shrapnel and from the percussion.

If you were filling from a mobile system, cascade only, no compressor, would you still equalize the tanks before filling? My thought is that you start filling from the lowest pressure bank in the cascade to "squeeze" as much air out of the cascade system as possible. Does pairing up similarly pressured tanks help? This isn't an issue for your shop, more emergency services related. I'm curious about your take because I often booger the math to figure it out.
@LakeHickoryScuba4 жыл бұрын
Hello Mike Coles. If I am filling multiple tanks at once, then yes I will always equal the tanks out. And starting on the lowest cascade first is the best way to utilize all the air possible.

Great review. Quick question Scuba Cylinder Net is it a good idea to use when diving ? Thank you
@LakeHickoryScuba3 жыл бұрын
Hello Rocky Hernandez, personally, I have never liked the Cylinder Nets. I have always removed them from my cylinders, and strongly encourage others to do so as well. The origional purpose of the Cylidner Nets were to protect the cylinder from scratching. Underwater, Cylinder Nets can prevent a cylinder strap from securing tighly enough, and a diver can have their cylinder slide out of the cylinder strap. In the last 33 years of being in this industry, I have witnessed it many times.
