Lakeland 100, what an amazing experience!
It was such a long and brutal course and was our biggest challenge to date.
We said during the race that we wouldn’t be doing it again but I’m pretty sure our names will be in the ballot again for 2024!

Well done. I love how understated and humble you 2 are. I did it in 2019 on zero training and 4 stone overweight, and i obviously suffered. Your chat at the end, though, saying 'quitting just wasn't going to happen, you've put too much in' was exactly the feeling I had. Thanks for filming and bringing back the memories.

Absolutely brilliant, big WELL DONE. 🦾 Massive achievement and a cracking video. It is a very BIG night/day/night out. I did it in 2012 and was absolutely clueless, having only done long fell races beforehand, think I was the only runner without poles. Enjoy your rest and recover well both of you 👍

Yo...just found this video and your channel. You guys are awesome! What a cool experience to do together. I'm on the West Coast of Canada and watch all the crazy Fell running etc in the UK. The Lakeland 50/100 looks like one of the marquee events. Love your Vaga caps. I bought a couple for myself a few months back. Good luck if you guys do try to get entries for 2024. I'm another Gary sat here at home sipping rum and Barrs cola (at every CP without fail) from my non collapsible cup looking at two bandaged feet reliving every up and down and trying not to fall asleep. I was a few hours finishing behind but managed to complete with no surrender although the sleep gremlins were trying their best. It's just an amazing event well organised beyond belief. The crowds at the start are something out of the Tour de France on Alp deuz. There are other races but this is different, the support from the organisers from the unique race briefing to checkpoints and random members of the public is brilliant. Congratulations 🥳 I've really enjoyed watching your build up video's throughout the year.💯🤠

Fantastic effort. Having seen a few of your videos I was looking out for you while I did the 50. We must have passed at Mardale Head. I didn't stay long there because of the weather. The wind and rain leaving there up Gatescarth Pass was awful. Well done. Some strength to get round.

Thank you! The Lakeland 50 route is lovely and one which I’m sure you’ll love. It’s not just about the route though, it’s the whole weekend. It was our first time there and it was brilliant! As a 50 runner you’ll get it even better if you choose to go on Friday as you’ll get to camp and enjoy the day, watching the petrified faces of the 100 start! There’s loads of great Ultras in the Lakes that’ll get you towards the Lakeland 50 👍

Thank you so much, we both appreciate it. Some great 50 (ish) miles events The Lap, Lakes in a Day and maybe Lakeland 50. Obviously we didn’t do it as a 50 but did run the route as the last 50 miles of ours. As for 50k, have a look at the Five Passes by Ascend events.

Simply wow! Everything about it is wow. The opra singing at the start, you battling the rain in the night and also still climbing tricky tough terrain, the greeting in the middle where the Lake 50 started and of course your tremendous superhuman effort while still staying humble. I am sorry about Gary's knee injury. And I am always amazed with Cheryl's positivity and strength, she never breaks! I can't believe that at the last 3 miles you had the Jacob's ladder to kill you off. The whole event sounds tremendous. The elevation there is crazy too. I am in awe of the two of you. Well done on completing the 100 I have done 7 50’s and every one has been different in weather!! Buckle was mahussive! I was marshalling on the beacons way 100 the week before and that was complete carnage! But great effort in what is a very difficult ultra! Superb video, guys. And as someone who was out there with you (about an hour up the road at the end) it really captures the grind and the beauty of the race. Those shots from the first night in the pissing rain and the second in the howling wind up Tilberthwaite in particular show why it’s so hard. And on the flip side, the sunshine and the support around Dalemain/Ullswater which were better than even the Swiss roll and custard for spurring weary runners on. Well done on the awesome achievement, massive fist bumps to both of you 👊 P.s. almost as impressive as getting round the course is getting this video edited and out in a day or so. Very slick.

Absolutely amazing you 2. We could hear the singing of Nessun Dorma from way up the road where we were stood. It gave me goosebumps again watching on your vid. Thank you again! The support was amazing. Highs and lows all over the place. A totally amazing experience all through. What’s next? A holiday. After that, we have The HUT 50 mile race in just under 4 weeks 😳, then it’ll be the unbelievably awful Cheviot Goat again in December. Nothing else planned but I’m sure there will be other things added before the end of the year.

Great job - what was your electrolytes you used..

Didn’t use any electrolytes, just made sure to eat enough varied food at checkpoints. We did carry a few Mountain Fuel products with electrolytes in them (what we normally use) but didn’t use them as the checkpoints were so good 👍
