I loved your video and shared it with family back in Australia so they could experience the course! It was the most amazing race - my first ultra. So grateful to you for capturing this footage. Congratulations to both of you on an amazingly speedy run...

Thank you very much, that’s so nice of you 😊 It was certainly an amazing race and a lovely, if not a little hot, day for it. Hope any aches and pains you took home with you have started to ease as you’re now on the slippery slope of ultra running. It’s a bug without a cure!!

Brought back some good memories! About 3 hours behind you overall so the sun was already out by the time we hit Loughrigg Fell, which made those 2 big climbs hot work! Hated it so much I’m already signed for next year.

Thank you! It’s great that you’re back next year for another go. The weather definitely played it’s part this year, we both really struggled with it. Just too hot 🥵 I think we got used to all our training over winter so appreciated the cold and layer options which the sun doesn’t give you.

Thank you very much, the heat certainly played its part. Hot! 🥵 Definitely a varied course though one wish would be less tarmac which is difficult to avoid on a route like this.

Great video. Gearing up for this year's clockwise in May and won't get to recce much of it. This really helps. You moved more quickly than I think I'll manage too. Great effort. Fab video.

Hi Richard, glad you found the video useful. It’s a great event which I’m sure you’ll love. You just kind of find your own rhythm on events like these so don’t get too caught up in pacing etc. The aid stations are very good too which really helps 👍

Well done. Gave me a good idea what it's like. Looks tougher than I was expecting, and looks like the use of GPS is vital too.
@TrailRunningCouple2 жыл бұрын
Uploading the GPX track to a device (Garmin Fenix watch for us) is very helpful but the markers on course are also very good. There’s lots of them too. It’s a tough course to be fair no matter which direction you opt for (we’ve done both ways now). Good luck if you enter 👍

Did this yesterday (14 May) Wansfell Pike battered my legs. Managed to hang on for 15 hours. Very hot , but a grand day out, the marshalls and feed stations were great. All the best.

Wansfell is a killer! Especially in the heat yesterday. Felt totally dehydrated by the end and took a while to come around and process things! Definitely a grand day! Agree on the Marshalls, they make the difference. Well done and thanks 😊

Another great video and very well done on what definitely looks a very technical course. It's not the slipping or hills that would get me, but i have a serious habit of head butting by accident every single tree branch going on these races. Love the medal. I'm sure i have this race pencilled in for next year. I'm also guessing about 35% ish of the route is in the 'Lakes in a day' race. So you both should be full steam ahead when you get to it on that race. :)
@TrailRunningCouple2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Andy! Was just reading about somebody that had to go to A&E to have their scalp stapled back together after head butting a branch! I did it once yesterday but more of a skim than a full blown butt 😰 We’ve not really looked at the route of Lakes in a Day, probably should do really! Thanks again for watching, much appreciated 👍
@AndyUltra2 жыл бұрын
Ouch, hope the person is ok. I could go on about organisers at least dealing with some of the bad fallen branches, but i never do complain as i never want to open a can of worms. My view is that its a trail run and not an obstacle course. Anyway, just had a look at the differences of routes between the Lap and Lakes in a day. Only the bottom part of lake Windermere is on the same path. About 8 to 9 miles. So it will make a nice change for you i think instead of doing the same 20+ miles you have just done.
@TrailRunningCouple2 жыл бұрын
@@AndyUltra that’s good to hear about the route differences. We love new trails so never really recce areas before new races as much prefer to experience it all on the day. Looking forward to it! Thanks.

Well done both of you, you made something that wasn’t easy look easyish, I didn’t see you at start, I was going ok till wansfell took the wind out of my sails, so my second half was slow, them last couple of hills and that last decent were just what you needed in the last few mile, I think your run a couple of weeks ago definitely was great conditioning, all the best 👍

Haha, it wasn’t intended but think I pulled it off 😂 She picked a niggle up a couple of weeks ago on the George Fisher Tea Round. She struggled with a 5 miler on Thursday so we got a knee sleeve to see if it helped. That and paracetamol got her around. Thanks 😊
