I would consider the following lineup with Vando & Wood out: PG: D-Lo, Vincent SG: Christie, Reaves SF: Reddish, Knecht PF: Bron, Rui C: AD, Hayes Reaves & Rui would obviously get more minutes than Christie & Reddish, despite them starting, but you’d at least have some POA defense in the starting lineup. If you’re not yet comfortable with Christie starting, swap him with Vincent, and have Reaves and Christie play the backup 1 & 2, respectively. I’m sure Rui will mostly be playing the 3 (and backing up Bron), but at least Reddish & Knecht can give you serviceable minutes there. The worst part of this lineup is the lack of bench defense, but I don’t see an easy fix for that. I suppose they’ll just have to play the matchup game . . .

@@vasheed Yeah - I’m pretty sure they’ll start D-Lo, Reaves, Rui, Bron & Davis, as those are their best 5 players. They’ve been successful with that lineup, even if it is heavily scewed towards offense. That’s fine for the regular season, and maybe even the early rounds of the playoffs, but not for a championship push. That then leaves their bench lineup looking something like Vincent, Christie, Reddish/Knecht, Rui? & Hayes, which looks pretty terrible on paper, imho. But hopefully one or more of Vincent, Christie & Reddish can show enough improvement to contribute to the starting lineup when needed, at least until/if Vando returns, and allow Reaves & Rui to lead the bench unit. It’s definitely going to be a challenge for Reddick to balance the roster as currently constructed, so hopefully at least Vando can make it back soon. Wood is less important, imo, but hopefully he can make it back, too. And fingers crossed that no other players, especially Bron & AD, suffer any serious injuries. I’m nervous about this, given their extended Olympic performance, as well as Bron’s advanced age and AD’s injury history. 🤞 I suppose the silver lining to all of this is that the younger guys should she increased minutes early in the season, which will hopefully help them gain experience and grow. I believe I read somewhere that the Laker’s have a relatively easy schedule, so hopefully that will allow the younger guys to gain confidence, too. This situation also reinforces the team’s need for a trade at the deadline, as they need to turn some of their one way role players (and draft capital) into higher end two way players, preferably starting caliber ones. Should be interesting to see what they can pull off, if anything! Anyway, my apologies for the rant! I guess I’m just excited for the season to begin, even if it will be a challenging one. Cheers! 🍻

@@marcusgarvey6231 I’m with you as far as praying that no one else suffers a serious injury! 🙏 The one saving grace here is that the team is used to playing without Vando, Wood & Vincent, given last year’s experience, so they should be okay early on. However, one major drawback to this situation is that the team doesn’t have a savvy veteran like Taurean Prince, (or Spencer Dinwiddie late in the season), to help keep them afloat while they wait for Vando or Wood to (hopefully!) return. 🤞 I believe I read somewhere that the Lakers have a relatively easy schedule compared to the top Western Conference teams (excluding the Nuggets, who have the easiest schedule), so hopefully the younger players on the team will get a chance to play and experience some success early on, which could help the team later in the year. But yeah, this roster is painfully thin and unbalanced, with only Bron, AD & D-Lo being starting caliber players, imo. I would have included Rui in this list, but he’s stuck at the 3 because Bron starts at the 4, which is not Rui’s ideal position. That’s why Vando’s absence is such a problem, as he should ideally be starting at the 3 in order to balance the roster. Wood’s absence would have been a lesser concern, but with Vando out, I believe he was slotted to play behind Bron at the 4, so that Rui could start at the 3. However, with Wood out, too, there’s no real substitute behind Bron, which makes me worried that he’ll be tasked with playing a ton of minutes early in the season, which could diminish his effectiveness late in the season and into the playoffs - that is, if they even make it to the playoffs! Hopefully we can at least get Vando back sooner rather than later, as he’s really the key to a balanced Laker’s roster. 👍

Yes, and as a Balzers fan. Emphasis on "At A Minimum". Reath is basically the caliber of player ANY team would want as a 1st rd pick at a minumum to be content with. There's 30 1st rd picks, and usually, there are only about 11-14 of those picks, that actually seem worth their 1st rd selection... Based on Reath's performance last year he has shown to be one of those 11-14 guys who'd make their team satisfied in their rookie year performance. The thing about Portland is rn now they are looking for an anchor at Center and want to see which type of players fit the playstyle they'd want to pursue within their rotations. They still want to test out Ayton, Clingan, Robert Williams & Reath to see how they look with personnel like Scoot & Shaedon. Whoever meshes best will either solidify a more permanent role 3-5yrs or receive an offer for them that is too good to pass up. Two second rd picks for Reath is NOT too good to pass up for what he provided in his rookie season... Unfortunately, the Blazers are very unlikely to take the Lakers garbage offerings they usually give to other teams. Unlike, the Lakers the Blazers value the players they actually want over a "random draft pick" that's outside of the lottery. Lakers are the only team suposedly trying to be competitive now yet bets on having draft picks to push them over the edge instead of actual players that improve their roster

Lakers had pretty good record 2nd half season without wood, vando, vincent and reddish for most games. Lost prince and dinwiddie Think Knecht can replace Prince Cam reddish replaces dinwiddie Hopefully much better yr for vincent. So yes losing vando and wood so close to start of season is very disappointing I don't believe the team is any worse. Got to either A. Make a trade B move up Castleton, Hinson, traore. I would salary dump wood if any team would go for that😮 or max Lewis. I like the trade for Sarr or Reath ideal. In a way kinda good thjng forces us to get good look at christie, knecht, Castleton, hinson tarore fudge until wood and vando back. I believe it when I see it with those 2. GO LA

Reath offensively plays like a European big, he’s always trying to get open good at pick and rolls and comfortable shooting 3s. Basically a skilled offensive big who plays outside. Is that a viable solution? Idk

Good way to put his offensive play-style. He spent half a decade playing overseas in Europe, China, and Australia (and plays for the AUS national team). He just has that space and pace big man style. Both pros and cons to him of course, but he’d be that versatile big that contrasts what Hayes provides their team.

@@OrangeCabMusic Honestly don't know that much about Reath. Just that he sounds like a fit in the video. Castleton has looked solid in the g league. He hasn't impressed at the NBA level but on limited minutes. I think he's shown enough in the g league to warrant giving him a shot as the 3rd string. It gives the Lakers a bonafide opportunity to see what they have in him, doesn't cost assets, and doesn't leave the role empty which would be what the Lakers did last year. Reminder, we're talking about the 3rd string not AD replacement in the starting lineup.
