This season, this trade the Lakers actually lost. It's crazy how nobody can see this. A bottom 3 rebounding team, and bottom 10 defensive team just became dead last in both categories and people act like this team is now some unstoppable juggernaut. The Mavs are the second best team in the west now. I saw the Vegas odds makers change the odds drastically against the Mavs and drastically in favor of the Lakers. Are these guys running NBA 2k sims to figure out odds? Basketball is still a team sport and if your team can't do certain things, they will struggle. The only way that the Lakers won this trade is if next season the Lakers strike gold in free agency. All of these salty people are going to be gloating when the Mavs have a better record and go further in the playoffs. The mental gymnastics and the flip flopping will be top tier.

I think the reason why the Lakers weren’t willing to add another pick was because the risk of losing him to the spurs is ginormous. But the fact is if Luka is unwilling to sign a 2+1 this summer the Lakers could then trade him to the spurs or thunder for 10 first round picks and all their young talent outside of Wemby and Shai. As long as the Lakers don’t risk going to free agency with Luka unsigned they cant really lose

Reaves and Kleber for Cole Anthony and Bitadze. Goga is a huge upgrade over Kleber and is healthy and on an amazing descending contract. Anthony is a talent drop from Austin but fits better because he’s a great defender and doesn’t need the ball to be most effective. And he’s on a good contract with two more years left vs Austin heading into a contract year and will get $30m in 2026.

This is a incredible trade however I don’t believe Luka is currently better complete player than AD simply because Luka is not committed in the defensive side of the court. When he decides to work on that side then I’ll agree. I’m a very critical and logical thinker. However it’s still a awesome trade for the lakers because of his age. No one outside of Dallas is crying over a Luka trade. Most of us are laughing, because the joke is on the Lakers. Wait until you guys realize how much of a DIVA Luka is. He can't stay in shape, and that's the least of his issues. He doesn't play a lick of defense, and he argues every call up and down the court. Even I didn't realize that much, until it was brought to my attention 2 years ago!!! Now the Lakers have 2 DIVAS with attitude problems. Luka's former team mates had to get on him about arguing with the refs at every call. He's a great player, but truly a DIVA. It's so rediculous, and nows the Laker's fans chance to see it up close and personal. This is not going to be what they think it is, especially if you don't get a good center. Plus in order to be pretty good on defense you need to be at a stable weight and have to be willing to work. So when y'all get him on a proper diet and strengthen him, him and LeBron are going to have problems...
