What’s the point of having LeBron & AD, if you’re not gonna go all in while you have them? LeBron may be 3 months shy of 40, but he’s still playing at an elite level. And as great as AD is, he can be even more effective playing next to a rim protector, allowing AD to play the 4 & operate as a help defender on the perimeter. By not building around LeBron & AD, all you’re doing is losing now, & postponing the inevitable rebuild.

@timmyhortonSZN Reeves is mad inconsistent, causes a lot of turn overs due to sloppy dribbling and poor shot selection. There’s too many occasions you see Austin doing WAY too much coming up the court and ends up losing the ball, often without the opposing team doing anything. He’s trying to be the guy but he’s not athletically gifted or at least as technically sound as he thinks he is in his head. He wasn’t that effective during FIBA this year, one of the reasons we lost to Germany, and also one of the reasons the lakers lost some key games last year. To his respect when he gets hot he’s a great asset to the team, but that’s the thing, he can’t turn it off and on himself, he’s way too situational. Rui has the same problem but that’s because Jordan brand made him believe he was one of the next ones up when he came into the league and so did the NBA Media. He’s a good player but he also creates ton of turnovers, has iffy shot selection/execution , and is inconsistent on defense.

It would be a mistake to go "all in" on a 40 yr old player. At some point, no matter how painful the process may be, you have to start looking towards the future. The landscape of the NBA is constantly changing. And, the old way of just pilfering big free agent stars, and going for "restarts", instead of rebuilds, isn't as viable as it used to be. Plus, I'm higher on this teams roster than most are. So, I'm not with the doom and gloom crowd. I'm used to "others" being down on the Lakers. The entire NBA is shooting more 3s than ever before in the last 3 years. All the surprise teams that came up and the best teams in the last 5 years were setting 3 point records. The Lakers have primary starters with below average defense taking on main stars with better defense, who also score more, sometimes substantially more than D'Lo and Reaves. There is a giant hole, where there should be a 2-way small forward. All these journalists are talking about is a big bruiser in the middle, who can be switch hunted. That's the exact type of player that has fallen out of favor with almost every other team. We are in the 3 point shooting era of the NBA. Boston shoots more than GS did during their run. Dallas, Sacramento, Cleveland, Utah and others rose up the rankings on the back of wings. We don't have a single rotation wing, never mind a starter. That's the glaring hole. We went from AB, KCP, Caruso and DG to Gabe, D'Lo, Reaves, Max Christie and Cam Reddish. Why do these journalists all care who sits on the bench, when close games get finished out with LBJ at PF and AD at center. What difference does the 7 footer on the bench make? None whatsoever. This team needed to add wings to compensate for D'Lo and Reaves, ideally in order to separate them from one another, so that we can be something other than the third worst NBA team at defending the perimeter. That's the real glaring hole. And we had the assets and opportunities to do it, but all the energy has been misplaced on a center that doesn't exist and point guards, who are worse than D'Lo and cost substantially more. That and hyping up Reaves, Christie and Knecht has been all we have done lately. The Lakers are stuck in the G-league era, where damn near 50% of our minutes or more were being played by G-league / third string guys over the last 3 seasons. That's the problem. The 12 minutes left behind AD can simply go to Rui and Vando, who don't get enough minutes anyway to get into any sort of rhythm. If it weren't for these misguided journalists pushing for nonsense that can't work all the time this could be our roster now: D'Lo / Caruso / OGA / LBJ / AD Delon Wright / Austin Reaves / Vando / Wood / Hayes And we'd have had the roster spots to sign GTJ. If done right we still could have drafted Knecht. And we should have gotten Pippen Jr. and Jay Huff back. Bronny / GTJ / Knecht / Hinson / Huff Now that is how you build a roster around elite defense and shooting with solid athletes. I bet you if the roster had looked like that talks with Jonas around the mid level exception would have also worked out, because he would have seen an active role for himself beating out Hayes and being a main option on offense surrounded by shooters besides Vando. Yeah it would have sucked to let go of JHS, Christie, Gabe, Rui and so many picks to achieve all this, but it would have been a far more balanced roster with the best defense in the NBA and at least 6 guys (9 if you count GTJ, Knecht and Hinson) who can credibly be around 40% shooting. And the reason we can't have such a roster and still have picks has everything to do with the weird profit maximization strategy that Jeannie is pursuing with the Lakers. Should have retained good players on good contracts even if it costs you dearly with the luxury tax. I don't see Boston complaining. They had room to add a guy like Porzingis while keeping all their best guys. Then they added even more to that core. It's because the franchise worth is tied to titles. Saving 100M per season and not getting anything done can and will lead to the Lakers falling down the ranks of the most valuable franchises. I mean sure she can possibly use the money to invest in other holdings and luxury to compete with other richer owners or find more profitable businesses to invest in, but in any case it is not the best strategy for the Lakers. So instead of retaining guys such as Alex and KCP and making use of bird rights, we a team where half the guys are 20 and under (and can barely get on the court or do something once on it) and are targeting a switch-huntable, non shooting big that will clog the paint for AD and Lebron (just like Jordan and Drummond did, it looked horrible, worst offense we ever had). And not only do we need that the most according to journalists, who can't win a game of pickup at the YMCA, we also need to give up what semblance of perimeter defense we have to do it or even the best shooter and lowest turnover PG we ever had in LA in D'Lo. That's who is at fault here according to the media and fans. It's not the predictable struggles from our Swiss cheese perimeter defense and cobbled together power forward log jam behind LBJ and AD, who both want to play PF themselves. That's all cool. We just need more players nobody wants with even less shooting and perimeter defense. Got ya. And everyone just repeats this nonsense constantly.

While I understand that appeasing Lebron in order for him to he happy staying in LA was important, Rob Pelinka made a gigantic mistake in agreeing to trade for Westbrook. This created too many holes in the lineup due to Westbrook's enormous salary as well as his bad fit with the team. For that, Pelinka deserves to be fired and should have been the following off-season after getting Westbrook. Instead of looking at Westbrook as a bad fit, other free agents were looking at the joining the Lakers as a big mistake and a possible stain on their own legacy as a player.

@@disintegrateallhumans3067just imagine the haul the lakers could land for Davis and the amount of first round picks and young players. Then even Lebron can be traded for a few first round picks. The Lakers would be well on there way to a rebuild with plenty of assets and cap space.

@disintegrateallhumans3067 This crap pisses me off. We have been saying this for almost 3 years. Blow it up. Stop being weak and afraid

@@majormarketing6552 I have a feeling the lakers will continue to be in the Lebron business until 2027 by that point Lebron will have no trade value , Davis’s value will dwindle greatly from what it is now and the lakers will have to rebuild later on with less assets. But as long as they’re making money in the Lebron era they could care less about contention

@@ozzee5094- So you’re suggesting that the Lakers build through the draft? Look at how well that’s worked out for Boston. Sure, they just won a championship, but it was just their 2nd championship in 37 years. Also, with the Lakers recent performances in the draft (excluding Dalton Knecht), not sure if I trust the front office enough to build through the draft. And on another note, LeBron has a no trade clause in his current contract, & trading LeBron would be a bad look for the Lakers franchise.

LeBron can teach the young guys how to play. Max salary Veteran mentor, everyone gets to be Bronny James.

What does it matter if he does go in We don't have crap to give, nobody wants to deal fairly with the Lakers, and I don't think LA is the destination city it used to be for star players

Lakers FO is fully incompetent, we all know that. Having said that, lebron knew that with this LA team and FO he had no chance for further titles. He preferred (understandably at his age and career stage) comfort and playing with his son. He ain’t stupid.

Lakers organization are making backwards but not forward. They knows if they are facing against Denver. They lose always. But Pelinka never do anything.

I am losing patience and faith in Pelinka. I like Bob Meyers his replacement.

As currently constructed, now that Wood and Vando are out for the start of the season due to injuries this team is not even a play in team. The GM didnt do a damn thing again this offseason, this roster wont go far if they dont get a legit big man to space the floor with AD and have reliable 3pt shooters. I hope AR15 improved his shooting cuz he showed some promise in last yrs playoffs. DLO still isnt it with this roster, hes too much of a liability and he proved that by not showing up vs Denver. I dont get Pelinka, he needs to be in the hot seat for not doing a damn thing last two off seasons. If the lakers fail to make it to the play in, rob needs to go...
