The trade deadline will probably be the best means to improve the roster teams are going to be willing to negotiate fairly. The Lakers are still a playoff team so it's not all that bad. 47-49 wins is tough to do in a very competitive Western Conference and they manage to win 47 games last season. They got better just by making coaching changes. The ceiling is still there for this team this season to make a move just not now.

Optimistic view: Lakers essentially added Vando, Christie, Knecht and a healthy Gabe while only losing Spencer and Taurean. We are also replacing a useless coach in Ham with someone who (hopefully) actually knows what he's doing. Nuggets got worse and they were the only team we (or at least I) were truly scared of in the west. If we play them now, I like our chances bc KCP was huge for them.
