For perspective, Dalton's last college season was a total of 36 games and he's already played 39 at the half point of this season. Just give him some grace and he'll come out of it.

We’re ranked #28 in defense the last 10 games. It’s blatantly clear how bad we are on that end even without the numbers.
@concernedcitizen41716 күн бұрын
It's true lot of fans have soured on Reaves because he just hasn't been as efficient this season which he admitted in his walk-off interview and he's having his worst defensive season by several advanced metrics but in fairness some of that is to be expected as he's thrust in a more prominent role. It takes time to adjust. Reaves is solid on a good contract and he's still young enough to improve. It was a great game by Austin.
@pandabearr906 күн бұрын
Reaves at 26 y/o is a vet, not a young player.. luka, jjj, trae young are all 25, and they are vets
@concernedcitizen41716 күн бұрын
@@pandabearr90 Ya, he's 26 which isn't particularly young by NBA standards but it's also not old. Most players start their prime around 27-28 and peak around 30, although there are some anomalies. This is the 1st season where he's fully been handed the primary/secondary ball-dominant role and we're only 39 games in so I still consider it a transition period. The truth is that while he has regressed in efficiency so far and has been targeted more on defense, he's still been solid. Performances also don't always follow a steady pace or incline but go through peaks and valleys. I expect his efficiency to marginally improve by seasons end. He's a vet in some aspects but it's unfair to compare him to Luka who is just on another level. As of right now, I put Reaves on the same tier as Darius Garland. Maybe he's a little higher or lower but still around that same tier which is great value for $13 mil.

Jovan, why do you keep saying AR had 3 bad games against the TX teams. Against Houston he was tremendous. 21 pts, 10 assists, 0 turnovers, +12. This vs one of the best defensive teams in the league full of the kind of players that have given him trouble. One of only a handful of 20-10-0 turnover games in the entire league this season. For context, John Stockton had 6 such games in his career. Nash and Kidd each had 7.
@SamDavisson6 күн бұрын
I agree with Jovan 99.9 % of the time.. but the only reason this game was a close game was the the Nets had one of the fakest shooting games of the season..I've watched them all season &they were making 28-30ftrrs at the shot clock buzzer after LA played good Defense for 23 sec. Sure there was some bad defensive possession but that's gonna happen when our best player/Defender and best Wing defender were out of the game. There was guys we've never heard of making contested 28fters in the 4th
@trey53595 күн бұрын
I actually disagree with your take on the Lakers needs with defense especially since guys were missing. Your missing DFS which is your 2-3-4-5 switchable 3-D player that would helped heavily this Nets game. Also you’re getting back another Bruce Brown type defender in Vanderbilt who when healthy can guard all positions as well with better foot speed to guard ball handlers as well. Then you’re missing AD out there too. All those guys healthy playing together is going to be a problem but also will slot people correctly defensively in their roles. I actually see robs plan for the trade deadline coming in slowly with getting these players back and integrated. The Lakers still got 3 full weeks to healthily evaluate then decide what you need at the deadline. Personally I think the Lakers should Trade Rui for Cam Johnson just for smarter IQ player to be out there in high leverage moments. Then to me you cut the back end guys Like (Shake,Wood) and remake the back end of the roster to sign players that better balance the roster. Let’s say for example you trade for Cam and you’re giving up (Dalton,JHS,Rui,Hayes) you probably have only have to deal one 1st on that deal. Then you open two roster spots and cap space as well. Then I would cut Wood/Shake that’s 11 players left. You then Elevate Jamison/Koloko as your backups 5 on cheap 2 year deals That’s leaves two more spots to play with in the main roster for playmaking and another need as well. Then you have two two-way open rosters spots bring in more development guys. But that’s just me! What do you think 💭?

Depth was really tested, some of those lineups were just nasty, games like this from rui is why he cops criticism, after a really nice game he went passive again, I would really like to see dfs start against the clips,.also should burn one of a kolokos 50 odd games could use him against zubac.

He was the first player to finished with at least 20 points and ten rebounds while shooting 85+ percent from the field and also having no turnovers in their debut with a new team. He also finished with one assist and one steal. He shot 7-of-9 from the free-throw line. SOOO, YOU STILL DON’T THINK HE WAS THE MAN FOR THE JOB FOR US??

@Wrathstein6 күн бұрын
Hi Jovan, first time I have a question on your analysis. The Nets are switching - therefore the Lakers need to puncture the gaps 1v1 then drive and kick when you get to the paint. That's exactly how you beat switching. You need switch beaters which they did. 1v1 drive, slip screens, pick and pop, screen rejects. It's actually a growth for Austin to be able to puncture the switch and drove a ton this game.

Hey Jovan, if the Lakers trade Rui for Bruce Brown or Lonzo Ball, what do you think about having Wood fill Rui’s role to some extent as a bench scorer. I know his injury return status is still uncertain but JJ said he wanted Wood to get back to how he was playing with Dallas/Houston. If he returns, could the Lakers trade JHS and a minimum to get a cheap backup big or just open a roster spot for Koloko to fill two of their holes.

LA, we are headed to another disappointing ending. They are barely beating teams. I mean barely. They are struggling against teams from the East Coast. I don't even watch the games anymore. I've been a Lakers fan for over 40 years, and never have I seen this franchise run like crap like it is now. I cut off all my subscriptions to watch the games. Im not paying Lakers shit. They dont make moves to win, they make moves with saving money in mind. Dr Buss made moves to win!! Damn the money. I love Buhah and will continue to suppor the show. Theyve played alot of scrubs so far and they about to get into the real hard part of the season after the January. One more thing. We are so bad that they talk about Vanderbilt as if Scottie Pippen was out hurt for the bulls and they awaiting his comeback. The same dude who they exploit on the court because he has zero offense. Which wouldnt be a problem is the team wasn't so poorly constructed. Got yall thinking that Reaves with zero defense and yes does really good against teams like the Nets, but struggles against real teams. He struggles against all those teams at the top of west. You will see I'm exactly right.
