Andrew Friedman's quote, "If you're rational on every free agent, you're going to finish third for every free agent," applies to trades too. To improve, teams must take calculated risks and be bold, not overly cautious.

I feel like part of Rob's hesitancy to make a big splashy move is that he is still scarred by how badly the Westbrook trade went - which was pushed by LeBron and AD. That move set the Lakers back years, and Rob's had to work his magic to change the direction of travel. People forget after winning the bubble that the Lakers were still the team to beat, but AD got hurt and their season went down the drain. If they held off trading for Westbrook and built on what they had (e.g. Kuz, KCP, Caruso, etc) - we would have been much more competitive than the last few years

Congrats on the 20k man! Yo yoooo Honestly, I would love 3 team deal with Utah and Chicago to get Lonzo and Kessler keeping Rui on the roster, but the math is very hard, and finding a way to entice both teams seems particularly difficult. I don't think Chicago would want to get anywhere close Vanderbilt (they had enough injuries already), and so we have basically minimum deals and Gabe who is a negative asset with another year on his contract. Having a top 8 with AD, LBJ, Reaves, Christie, DFS, Rui, Lonzo and Kessler would be perfect.
@drumline1303Күн бұрын
Jason T. had a really nice break down of why trading for a big is great for LeBron and AD defensively despite LeBron going to the 3.
@srtghost384222 сағат бұрын
Adding DFS to the starting lineup should nix any of those concerns. Lebron would be able to guard the weakest perimeter player on the court like so many teams do for players like Brunson, Curry, Luka, etc.
@srtghost384222 сағат бұрын
Lebron no longer has the lift to be a constant rim protector on the weak side or to be a beast grabbing rebounds.
@robt581822 сағат бұрын
Even a casual observer knows you can't compare the current team to the 2019-2020 team. Getting a "true" center and moving AD to the 4 means LeBron has to play the 3. He can't do that like he did five or six years ago.
@robertwilliams-np6wbКүн бұрын
Jovan, thanks for response. AD made a mistake telling the press, that he wants to play the four. AD tells Shames that we need a big implies that Jax not good enough. Not good for teambuilding.

The more games pass, the harder it’s going to get to trade anyone. Bruce brown starts playing better, gabe starts playing better, both sides might stand pat. Worst case scenario

@LN-LiferКүн бұрын
AD whining about playung the 4 is just more evudence he does not actually care about winning. LBJ cannot play the 3 anymore. We don't need a big so AD can play the 4. We need a big to REBOUND so we don't bleed 2nd chance points when AD is not on the floor
@12garkКүн бұрын
Yes. You nailed it. We need a big so that when AD is off the floor, we don't get annihilated on the boards and we don't get killed at the rim. Without AD we have one of the worse rim defense in the league and we are 29th in rebounding. It's ridiculously bad. If the big can and will play some minutes with AD on the floor may be a situation worth exploring later (in the non-LeBron minutes), but the main advantage is to stop the bleeding. LeBron at the moment has a horrendous +/- because the non-AD minutes are untenable on defense. LeBron can float the offense with Reaves off the floor, but we get crushed on D.

If Rob doesnt want to part with the 1sts how about this: Pat Williams/ Ayo Dosunmu/ Jalen Smith for Rui/Gabe/JHS and Wood. I think that taking Williams bad contract gets balance out by adding Ayo and Jalen who are draft pick worthy. Pat gets change of scenery and a high upside. Lakers get younger and more athletic and fill most of their holes in one deal. Lets let Robs "player development" surround Pat with championship resources! Even if Pat doesnt work out his per year isnt bad ti eventually trade. At a minimum, Pat could do everything that Rui does.

I like Jaxson Hayes as the Javale Mcgee of this team but we need another big to be the Dwight Howard

@12garkКүн бұрын
Starting Sexton and acting like Reaves can't start because of defense is like arguing you shouldn't be allowed to carry a knife in your pocket while asking for freedom to drive a tank as a daily driver. Sexton can't guard anybody above 6'2, and can't switch any scheme. He's very active, but has horrible instincts. I'm not arguing Reaves is great on defense, I'm arguing however you consider Reaves, Sexton is MUCH worse.
