The possibility of hiring Hurley is exciting. Two things from this story that is MORE exciting are what LN has stated here: 1) That this was kept as a secret until now. 2) The mention of building out a "program" and how that is central to the hiring decision. That last item is SUPER exciting, esp as Lakers have continually given up young talent to chase stars since it was clear Kobe was on his last legs.

Is this just another Lakers hiring Coach K moment? I hope this one actually happen. Side note it’s hard for me to believe it’s been 20 years since Lakers offered the coaching job to coach K. Ugh, time flies by so fast as we get older.
@terrelllittle6684 ай бұрын
For those who think this doesnt make sense it actually does lakers want a coach who can build a program & culture while the ncaa basketball is basically becoming the G league with NIL deals an how players can just pack up & enter the transfer portal at anytime while also have to worry about youre players being poached so why not go to the nba were u know okay i dont gotta worry about poaching or worry about alot of the issues that the ncaa currently have
@edwardfitzgerald38774 ай бұрын
Poaching is not an issue. Free market breeds competition, which elevates everybody's game. If you can't swim, you sink.
@terrelllittle6684 ай бұрын
@edwardfitzgerald3877 NIL deals falls under the category of poaching if a school can offer a player more money they're most likely to sign with that school

Lakers need to build a culture like Pop did in SA and Riley in Miami. Changing coaches every two/three years is a total joke. JJ would be another one fired after Bron retires. We need a stable person leading. I hope it happens. The guy seems to be great.

Just the narrative that Klutch Sports can create whether it’s true, is powerful, including this channel had us believe it was going to be JJ Redneck all along. Now I’m also skeptical if Bronny to Lakers at 55 is also a Klutch created propaganda? 🤔

Hurley not traveling to LA. Just to turn down offer
@jsol_034 ай бұрын
He’s traveling expecting them to offer him whatever he wants. The only reason he leaves that meeting still the UConn HC is the offer isn’t worth leaving an already pretty sweet job
@MBeano4 ай бұрын
If JJ's eventual goal is to be a HC, then taking an AC position to "One of the most successful and valuable sports teams in the world" is a great step. It could be argued that an AC position w Lakers carries more clout than a HC from some other teams (as long as the season(s) went well, but that would apply to a HC as well)

As much as I would love this to happen and see Hurley usher in a new era of Laker basketball, I have learned over the years to temper my enthusiasm until the ink is dry and the deal is official. Still need to impress him enough ($ aside) to leave a really good gig he has at UConn. Fingers crossed that Jeanie and Rob impress him enough to seal the deal.

Cam was vital to out defense this season. I think he deserves to be on a team somewhere.

If we get Hurley it could be absolutely massive for guys like Rui(defensively) and Vando(offensively). Trading Dlo, Gabe, Jhs, Cam, plus picks and getting back DJ & Wendell Carter while Hurley aids in the development of Rui & Vandos game would put this team right back at the top.

If I was Jeanie, I'm sending my PJ for Dan. 1st class travel, service and accommodations. While on the plane, Lebron calls him first then AD calls him after that. To me, AD's conversation with him would be the important one to focus on. Rob and I pick him up from the airport in my Maybach then drive to the practice facility. The meeting is in my office with the trophies overlooking the practice court. Knowing about the success is one thing, seeing it in person is another. I'm cutting right to the point, 8 yrs 120 mil. There would be bonuses for benchmarks that could push it up to 160 mil. A long term commitment with a 200% annual raise and a generous bonus range should get it done. After he accepts, I invite Dan and his wife to dinner at one of my beach estates. I offer him the house to use while he finds a permanent residence. Welcome to LA Dan!

The Lakers have to start keeping and developing some of their picks. They have to start getting younger. Look how many picks we gave up on early in recent years that have prospered after some development and playing time on other teams. It should NOT be all about LeBron James and the philosophy that they MUST win NOW. Sure it would be nice to be a top contender every season, but I would prefer a more organic championship team, not a store-bought one.
