I play this every night and somehow i feel like im not even in a house at night. I feel like im on a space cruiser looking at the Star Ocean outside my window. A sense of calmness lingers and makes sleeping for me easier, especially having Insomnia.

That Is great to hear! Thanks for sharing your personal story. When I'm feeling somewhat uncertain of things I play this to really help me sleep and get through it. Glad I'm not the only one who enjoys this music!

This song puts me in a meditative and reflective state of mind. For me personally it instills a feeling of both peace and accepting that the future is mysterious and unknowable. It is a little bit melancholic, but there are times where this kind of sound is therapeutic for me. It may not be for everyone but I love it. I would imagine though that if someone is going through a rough point in their life a piece like this may induce depression. At which point maybe this wouldn't be the best for that individual. Either way I could fall asleep to something like this!

@@kodackmaster Another year(s) off, seems like everyone is unanimous here hah, I can't hear it. When I listen to this I could only think of resident evil. But hey, that's the beauty of non lyrical music its up for interpretations which makes this timeless.

my favorite OST in the game, just gives this alien unknown feeling perfect ( also i didnt liked the plot twist back then but now i understant they meant to show how would a lv7 civilisation would look like in the 4D and now i totaly love it )

Ironic that the OST that sounds the most like tranquil deep space plays for the scene immediately following the completely out-of-left-field Vendeeni attack on Hyda IV, in a claustrophobic network of little metal boxes a mile or two below the surface of a planet most of the evacuees probably'd never been to or even heard of before. With the Voice Acting doing its absolute damnedest to well and truly inject the numb, shellshocked pain Fayt and Sophia are in for lack of anything more sophisticated than a wide-eyed PS2-era low-poly render to do so graphically, and this OST playing... it was one of my most distinct childhood memories. I didn't really "get" it the way I do now, having just learned the game had been on the PS4 store this whole time and bought it to revisit one of the bigger experiences of my old life. But I did remember it clearly. The whole opening hour of the game's done more than a good job of standing the test of time, so far... perhaps that was why.

Having a nicely looped version of this is really relaxing and peaceful, in a melancholy way (it's always used for sad scenes after all). Honestly might be one of the best songs on the soundtrack.

I remember when I would mediate to this by just letting it play in star ocean. The game itself had a soundtrack list when you beat it.

I'd advise against that (of course, you do what you wish when that time comes) because what sounds "peaceful" or "calming" to you may not be so for a child whose tonal sense has not yet developed. This is why Mozart was often advised for parents (well, beside that million dollar Baby Einstein industry). All of Mozart's lighter pieces are in major keys closely related to C major, and all these have a clear tonal structure. They won't make a baby smart, but they're a little easier on their still underdeveloped hearing. This music uses chords that are actually always just a little out of balance, which is probably why it makes you feel so peaceful. However, since you like this so much, I can suggest other tracks you may enjoy: "Stay With Me" - from The Fountain soundtrack (movie) "Temple of Light" - from Fable soundtrack (game) "Aquatic Ambience" - from Donkey Kong Country (game, obviously) I'd try the Aquatic Ambience first if a nice sleeping track is your interest.

I know this is a year off, but I would disagree. It gives me calm and an almost zen feeling. There is a touch of sorrow, but it is complemented with elation. An almost neutralizing mix. It's positively sorrowful.

@@chooky42 This is an even further year off xp But no yeah. I agree with you guys in that it's relaxing, but I also kinda, at the same time, get this weird empty feeling thinking about the mast void of space. Makes you think about how small we are compared to the vast space/star ocean.
