Just done this today for the first time, got slightly lost with a diversion in place near Matthews Linn don't know if someone had been pranking with the signs but we followed the arrows (as some others did) ended up going up some really bad hills on heavy chuncky gravel roads for a bout 3 miles and 150m elevatiopn till we thought this isnt right haha, 50 mins wasted and a load of energy so what shoudl have been 26miles turned into almost 30 and i'm not exactly the fittest of cyclists either, some of the hills were a little much for me but that might have been the excessive workout on our detour!

Brad Maxwell yeah there is a detour because of a landslide I believe, sounds like you took a wrong turn for sure. All good miles in the bank

Nice. Heading up there tomorrow. How long did it take you?

Took 1hr30, no stops everything was closed. Previous time was nearly 3hrs at a leisurely pace and detouring to see the castle and some of the installations. Enjoy your ride 👍

Looks great I'm heading there tomorrow on my gravel bike. Would you reccomend to run flat pedals or keep the clipless ones on?

Cameron Peel I ran clipless as I don’t think about it anymore. Plus I’ve taken enuff flat pedals to the shin in the past

@@the541nt ahh that's great. I've been riding clipless on the road for a good while now but will be my first venture on the light trails and was just a bit on the fence. Thank you for replying. You've put my mind to rest now! Great video btw! 🤘

Cameron Peel it’s a pretty tame trail with a couple of gravely switchbacks to be aware of, nothing technical

Looks lovely! Do you reckon it would be completely impossible on a road bike?

Claire Livsey I used a gravel bike with cx tyres, 33c. Some of it would be ok on road tyres but a lot of up and down on loose gravel, not sure they would have grip. If you have clearance to fit cx tyres that would do fine
