I remember making these as a kid, but with fabric. Mom knitted a couple as well. A nice simple Japanese design. There is a modified version for making a bento bag as well.

Just finishing this bag, made the mistake of sewing it together on my lap, the second side moved and could not get it back to how it should have been, had to unpick the completed side and start again. Then did it properly sitting at a table keeping it flat. Turned out lovely. And actually quite easy to do.

I can't read patterns so I'm a have to wing this with your tutorial Edit: I'm in a panic state... But just a rectangle (3:1) and fold... I got this. Maybe. Totally. Hopefully Edit: took me like 2 whole days to make the rectangle, it was way too big (120 wide, so I cropped both edges, now it's OK) I ran out of yarn so I used a different colour. Issa mood. Now I'm making the handle and I think I'll dye the whole piece grey (my yarn is brown)

If I were to make this with cotton would I follow same measurements?Thank You Love it!
@lakesideloops43275 жыл бұрын
Hello Lynn! Yes, it should still all work out as long as the yarn is the same weight. To be sure, as long as you have a 1x3 rectangle when you're finished (you can always add or subtract rows if you have to) it'll fold up nicely.

@lakesideloops43275 жыл бұрын
Hi Ana! Hmmm . . I'm not very familiar with macrame cords but I think it's worth a try (I'm sure it would be beautiful)! The key is to just make sure you have a 1x3 rectangle when you're done so that the folds line up. ; )

@grandmasmagic38584 жыл бұрын
I'm thinking of doing this bag in acrylic too..thought of using two strands together to make it stronger and also different colours to make it stand out..also thinking of lining it before joining together, it would be much easier to do when it's flat..

Thanks for the lovely pattern, one question, i have some worsted weight yarn, could I use that and maybe increase starting chain ?
@lakesideloops43275 жыл бұрын
jackie blake Yes! I would actually do a swatch and compare it with the pattern gauge...the ‘Rewind Tape’ yarn that I used says it’s bulky but actually seemed closer to worsted to me. Also this bag is BIG so even if yours turns out a little smaller I think it’ll still be roomy. I hope that helps! ❤️
@lakesideloops43275 жыл бұрын
Oh! And another idea is to forgo the pattern instructions (chain length) and simply make a rectangle that is the same finished size that mine was using however many stitches and rows are necessary with your worsted yarn...you can find the exact measurements of my rectangle within the pattern (just before the folding instructions). Hope that helps (and makes sense)!

Hey It is little confusing. Like chain2 do we need to skip the first 2 stiches and start half double crochet in the chain3 and so on?
@jamesdyckowski67163 жыл бұрын
I’m having the same exact issue!!!! And I’m meant to be hosting a crochet class where we are all doing this pattern but am confused on the exact same thing! Were you able to figure it out? If so, please share!
@jamesdyckowski67163 жыл бұрын
Hey! So I’ve figured out how this pattern works. You only HDC in the 3rd chain on row 1, then HDC until the end of row 1, then chain up 2. Row 2 and beyond, you HDC in all of the stitches, not starting in 3rd on the chain but the first stitch. Although you will technically have 152 stitches on each row, you only count 150. The first and last stitch (basically both of the chain up 2’s) are like parenthesis and the 150 stitches you count are within those parenthesis. Does that make sense? Anyway, let me know if it doesn’t, it took me awhile to sort this all out so I’ll help in anyway I can. You got this!

Why didn't you put your "Links" clickable for the pattern and link to Make & Few? 🤔 Most people don't understand how to click on the link let alone you make it more difficult w/o clickable links.

This is very lovely and I can't wait to try it out. But it was a bit confusing in the beginning as you did not state wether or not you were using US or UK terms. While I could immediately see that you were doing half-trebles it still might be nicer to specify which terminology you are using for those like me who learned crocheting with UK terms. :)
@lakesideloops43275 жыл бұрын
Brii Vulon thank you for pointing that out!! It’s not something I’d thought about and will make sure to watch for in future videos. You can also find that info within the written pattern as well as detailed descriptions of each stitch I use. Thanks again for the note - I appreciate it! ❤️

Hi! There’s a group of us who are starting this pattern this Friday and since I’m meant to be the most knowledgeable one (scary!) I need to understand the 2 chains and then the 150 HDC. Do we chain up 2, then HDC in the 3rd stitch from the hook? I am so confused on this one step but desperately need to know so I can help all of these other ladies and also, so I can make the pattern myself. Very adorable! Admire your skill so much 🙌 thank you!
