what you should do is build some rock walls below your towers..once you get high enough build your gate's..it will work

Broadbent use rock walls for the gate all the way up until u use the defensive wall for gate half under water her let me explain better build half way up with rock walls for the gate then add defensive wall door on top of rock wall so its half under water it will look really cool.

you could have made a slum, with the boat houses caged in foundation poles( around their perimeter). they would even float on the water

For the front and side gates, could you put a rock wall down in the water a couple rows high and then put the defensive walls on top of that to make your gate?
