I was in county jail; northwest nebraska just on the border of South Dakota. There were many native inmates there & had a prayer itual circle. They let non natives attend. Thank god for that group: it was like I wasn't in jail anymore: between the drums, songs, and calm - it was good. All was good. Thank you for this song.

I'm Australian, and I love your story. I feel the call to the true ways in their music, and words. The way of life that is supposed to be for all. They really do see all races as sacred, and don't use false words to push their agenda of division like white people, they didn't even have a word for liar. Blessings to you friend, and all American Indians and people who are guided by the great spirit. I have faith that the American Indian will return to the one revolution, and teach the world a thing or too for Saxons Celtics ect were the first to loose their spirtualism to Christianity. We had honour and sacredness in all of our races once, and there shall be again! Constitution is based on indian law!

Translation: "have pity, have pity, have pity. I'm sending my voice. On this day on top of the earth i walk, im sending my voice im sending my voice"..... as a singer this is what I understand it's saying! Its a prayer song and is sung while praying or in prayer. there is no label to our songs. they're all sung at certain times for certain things. And those who know our way, know when, where and how to use our songs. Wopila!

This song made me instantly burst into tears. Completely unexpectedly… The sound is full of such power, a heartfelt call to Spirit. I am a white woman living in the UK, no obvious connection to the Lakota people, but feel so grateful to have found this sacred universal prayer.

I am from Slovakia living in Scotland and native songs came to me, ( my soul) around my 18eens don't know how and where from it just get to me and spoke to me-my soul, my real me...soul is litterally jumping when these vibrations are in the air...it's something I can't describe, but I know, i don't need to, I'm just free and tearfully happy to just hear it, feel it...🌀🕊♋️🌌

Kayla, it's humbling to hear your experience with the Lakota. I am Sicangu Lakota born and raised in Rosebud, South Dakota. I'm glad, and hopefully you'll continue your walk in a positive manner. No matter which nation we are from, you and I plus many, many more of Red Nations are rising up and practicing our way of life. Pilamaya yelo.

I'm not Native American that I know of or not enough to count but when I hear the songs of the Lakota I cry. Sob really. Can an elder or someone explain this? I want to know if it is something spiritual going on. I completely believe in their way of life. Pta Oyate. I wish I could make up for all that has happened to your families and continues to happen. I consider myself a guest in your country. The music of the Lakota truly touches the deapths of my being and is beautiful in every way.

Lakota is one of the most beautiful languages I’ve ever heard. I am truly grateful and blessed for having gotten the privilege of hearing (If memory serves me correctly) a lullaby sung from grandmother to grandson. It touched my very soul, leaving me Yearning these 12+ years later to get the honor to learn to speak and sing such a beautiful language on my own, fluently. Even now the memory brings tears to my eyes. Thank you for sharing this beautiful masterpiece called Lakota with us!

I sang this song when my dad was taken by policemen. Hes 64. Charged with DUI but he never took a drink, never smoked, never did drugs, he even hated pharmaceuticals. Nonetheless he never scolded me nor cussed at me. No breathalyzer was taken to prove if he was under the influence. They drew blood and still found nothing. They left me in the street with no shoes, food or money. Called the police department every hour to find out they didnt have him on record for being pulled over. When i sang i could feel ppl around hugging me and walking with me. Founded him 12 hrs later he was okay, dirty and hungry but he was okay.
