I had always been taught and passed that info along in my WIC peer counseling classes; "plug duct" requires heat, massage and ibuprofen. We now know better and will teach better!

My breastfeeding journey had to end early (cold turkey) due to my baby having an allergy. I’m currently in the process of trying to dry up my supply. My doctor has had me avoid warm water on my breast In the shower, bind my breasts with an ace bandage, take ibuprofen, use cabbage leaves in my bra. I’m so afraid of getting mastitis! Should I be massaging my breasts/doing breast gymnastics? I’m 10 days in to the process and my breasts still feel engorged and are leaking.
I am so sorry for the rapid weaning and all the extra stress this causes for all members of the family. 😢 You may find this handout helpful. Good luck!

@@dharwell23 the baby has allergy to your milk? Can you pump and sell it to milk bank?
@mariamsuliman603510 күн бұрын
Try cabbage leaves it helped me reduce the milk supply and eventually I used them when I weaned as well. Just replace the leaves when they wilt. It helps to also keep the leaves in the freezer and then wear them.

What is your thought on the boob vibrators?
@lalactation11 күн бұрын
Only for use when pumping without any plugs. They can help move milk when pumping if your pump doesn’t have built in vibration. They should not be used for getting out plugs or clogs as they can increase inflammation
