Howard was the most pointlessly abused character in the show. Jimmy hated him because Chuck made it seem like it was Howard who was blocking Jimmy for no reason, and he went along with it because he really had no choice. Chuck had the power to dissolve the firm if he wanted to, as they didn’t have the operating account to buy out Chuck. He was also protecting Jimmy in a way from learning that his brother didn’t want him to become a lawyer. Later on, after Chuck he deliberately goes out and tries to get Jimmy on board and reconcile, but instead he gets abused, made to appear like a drug addict, humiliated and eventually murdered. He wasn’t a perfect person and made mistakes, but no more than the rest of us. He just seems like a guy trying to live up to his father and become a successful lawyer by playing by the rules and navigating difficult social situations as they come.
@jamesnesran234810 ай бұрын
Howard really is pretty much the best (morally) major character in the entire series. It's funny how the show initially paints him as a smarmy fake tan creep, but it reality he really is just a genuine guy trying to make it like everyone else, except he plays by the rules.

@@bigfatbunsChat GPT has you covered. I haven't even read the whole thing, but here you go. **Better Call Saul: A New Beginning** The sun was setting over Albuquerque, casting long shadows across the quiet streets. In the dimly lit apartment, Lalo Salamanca held a gun, poised to pull the trigger. Howard Hamlin, bound and gagged, stared at him, his eyes wide with fear. This was supposed to be the end. The end of Howard Hamlin, the end of the innocent, and another victory for Lalo. But something shifted in the air-a moment of clarity, perhaps, or something more profound. As Lalo looked into Howard’s eyes, he saw something unexpected: not just fear, but a deep sadness, a yearning for something different, something better. It was as if Howard’s very soul was crying out, not for his life, but for an escape from the cold, calculating world they both inhabited. Lalo lowered the gun. "What if," Lalo thought, "things could be different?" A spark ignited-a connection that neither man had expected. The tension in the room transformed, twisting into something unfamiliar yet exhilarating. Lalo, the hardened cartel enforcer, found himself drawn to Howard’s vulnerability, and Howard, the polished lawyer, saw something raw and genuine in Lalo. Days turned into weeks, and an unlikely relationship blossomed. Lalo and Howard found in each other what they had been missing for so long. The dangerous thrill of Lalo’s world combined with the strategic mind of Howard’s legal expertise became a perfect storm, one that would take them on a path neither had ever envisioned. As their bond grew stronger, Lalo decided it was time to change the game. He approached Gus Fring with a proposition: forget about the drug trade, at least for now. They could still make a fortune-perhaps even more-by turning Los Pollos Hermanos into the biggest fast-food empire in the country. Gus, ever the businessman, saw the potential. With Howard’s legal acumen, Lalo’s charisma, and Gus’s ruthless efficiency, the trio expanded Los Pollos Hermanos rapidly. They installed state-of-the-art chicken chillers across America, ensuring that their product was fresher and better than anything their competitors could offer. The restaurant chain grew at an unprecedented rate, and soon, it wasn’t just a fast-food joint-it was a phenomenon. To ensure the perfect dining experience, they brought on Walt Jr., who had developed a reputation as a breakfast enthusiast. His ideas for a signature breakfast menu, combining traditional favorites with unique twists, quickly became a hit. The Los Pollos Hermanos breakfast menu was born, with lines out the door every morning. With their business booming, Lalo, Gus, Howard, and Walt Jr. found themselves with more money and power than they had ever imagined. But they weren’t just business partners; they had become a family-a new kind of Fantastic Four. Their adventures took them across the globe. From opening restaurants in exotic locations to dealing with rival fast-food chains who wanted to take them down, their lives were anything but ordinary. They encountered bizarre villains, engaged in daring heists to steal secret recipes, and even found themselves saving the world a few times-because, as it turned out, the fast-food industry was much more cutthroat than anyone could have anticipated. Through it all, Lalo and Howard’s relationship remained at the heart of their new life. They complemented each other in ways that neither had expected, and their love grew deeper with each passing day. And so, instead of a tragic end in a dimly lit apartment, their story became one of adventure, love, and endless possibilities. For as long as there were new challenges to face, the Fantastic Four of the fast-food world would be there-serving up justice, one meal at a time.

I know this edit is just that, and edit, and a silly one at that, but honestly this is exactly what Howard needed at that moment: someone to focus his time and energy on in a positive way. Think about it, he'd been obsessed with Jimmy and Kim since they'd been making his life hell, his associates and business partners were all suspicious of him, and his marraige was in shambles. Howard probably felt very alone and emotionally isolated; he was drinking, sleeping by himself, and barely put together when he walked through the door. If he'd had someone in his life he could trust, rely upon, maybe even share his life with, he could've gotten past it a little easier... Too bad the person who walked through the door was Lalo.
