Lalo showed sadness when it came to his loved ones like his uncle , before leaving Hector , he turned a last time and he displayed sadness. He also did when he phoned Hector for the last time

I noticed the way he looked at hector before he left the nursing home too. He looked somber and later sat in the car with a notable silence. I interpreted this as concern for hector considering hector was in a place he absolutely hates. The party hat and happy birthday, it was almost tragic for Lalo to see such his ruthless, strong parental figure end up with that fate. The way I saw it is that Lalo knew he would be on a journey filled with risk and wondered if he didn’t make it, how would hector be looked after? No character at all could make Lalo feel this way, it was only for a moment we got a tiny glimpse of humanity in him. The cartel looked differently at hector and ignored him. They treated him as if he was mentally incompetent even though he was only physically disabled and of sound mind. It was hard for the twins to see him treated that way because they were raised by him, I know it probably bothered Lalo too. Lalo and hector, although twisted and evil, also have an almost touching dynamic.

@@Zarakiiwii Totally true, that dynamic is also seen on his last phone call when he said « te quiero tío ». We see a glimpse of sadness , care and love on his last line for his dear tío.

I agree and on that note, I'd like to add my theory that he didn't kill the woman from S6, E1. When he takes apart the scissors in that scene, it's assumed he killed her, but I think he spared her. He didn't need to kill her, because in that moment, he didn't need to pretend to be dead. No one knew yet. He could've just told her he was taking her husband to help at the compound. Then later, she would hear about the fire at Lalo's compound and assume her husband was dead or missing. Anyway, it's just a theory. 😊

Impressive analysis. Very good observations about the emotions of each character. I would suggest that Lalo is perhaps less naturally sadistic than Tuco and his other family members, despite being more psychopathic. He kills without any care at all, and the story he shared with Hector was when they did something together, with Hector in charge. What we see of Lalo on his own (and implied offscreen) is that he'll torture someone if he thinks it's necessary to get information (Casper) and will be happy to do it, but he doesn't draw out many of his kills using torture for fun (Fred, Howard, Coyotes, etc) when he easily could. Lalo's motive is often to eliminate obstacles or annoyances, like swatting a fly (psychopathy). That said, the word sadistic is still correct to apply to him but compared to the other Salamancas, I'd say it's to a lesser degree. I do agree he's more dangerous due to his high intelligence, charisma and manipulation, thus better camouflaged as a predator.

I think Lalo is sadistic, but not in the sense that he enjoys the physical pain of others, but rather the psychological and mental torture he inflicts on others. Like when he forced Gus to show him the superlab, or when he talked with Kim when Kim visited him in prison about Saul.

Lalo is sadistic in enjoying the physical harm of others too. He nostalgically reminded Hector of when they tortured and burned a hotel proprietor, brutally beat Fred to death, and told Don Eladio he got his "pound of flesh" showing he enjoyed it, and wanted to skin Gus alive at the pool with Eladio while stating they could have some fun doing it.

I’m late but watching your video gave me a thought. I do think Lalo felt something for Ciro. He looks at him on the ground after he is shot. Using him as a shield might have been a quick reaction of survival. He called Jimmy a born survivor because he is also one

Are you also aware of the deleted scene from a script from season 5? It's at Nacho's place and it underlines perfectly the threat Lalo is. Nacho is upsets toward his two "girlfriends" living with him, Amber and Jo. They've stole from him so due to this Nacho is so pissed off he was ready to hurt them, then he asked them to get out from here. Lalo came back from the shower and brought with him Nacho's gun. He was kinda curious how it will turn and even manipulate Nacho saying you're sure you want to kick them out like this ? Like it was cruel. Then, he said you can trust just only few people. And made joke about them cooking shitty stuffs and throw out the dinner made by Amber and Jo for them all

I would’ve liked seeing him survive too. It’s a bit hard to conceptualize a storyline where he doesn’t die considering he wasn’t in breaking bad though. But I think it would’ve been nice if they gave us a bit more of him since he was only in S4-S6

@@Zarakiiwii I think they did a decent job with the setup, they made it rlly obvious he was gonna die but everyone knew he was gonna die anyways. But i do agree that they could've been a bit more creative lol.

@@Zarakiiwii I'm not saying he should've survived, it didn't bother me that he died but it bothers me the way they killed him off. Lalo is the kind of guy that always has a back up plan, he's the kind of guy that gives u one last fuck u, but in the end he meets his end from a lucky shot by gus, really that's it, absolutely stupid.
