Great tone. Thumbs up for keep on going. This has been your passion for much of your life, don’t throw it away. Losing loved ones is not easy, but you need to keep focus on positive things and your mate who passed away would not want you to throw in the towel. Cheers

I've just started playing the last 4 months or so. These videos are indispensable and I revisit them over and over as I have found tone shaping to be more difficult and mysterious than actually playing guitar. Thanks so much and doubly so as they are laser focused on the Golden Age of Metal. Other guys do similar videos but aren't my age with the same passion for the era as myself. So again, quite indispensable. 👏

Amazing video man! Your DSL tone videos really opened a whole new world of possibilities for me guitar-wise and gear-wise. We often tend to spend a shit-ton of money in pedals that aren't really useful or overpriced boutique gear when the secret to a great rock and metal tone is both in the fingers and in the know how to sculpt the sound with overdrive and EQ. Plus I was sold on the DSL watching your videos and I'm really happy with it, it's a solid, versatile and powerful beast with a lot of potential to be exploited with the right ear and a couple of toys 😉 I already had the SD-1 but I managed to get both MXR EQ pedals and the NS-2 to use with the four cable method. The little yellow son of a bitch can turn the Marshall into a sonic crusher soooooo well! It works great also on the green channel with volume and gain fairly high on the amp and can get you to 80s hard rock crunch pretty darn close! As always thanks for your awesome content, it's always very fun to watch and there's also plenty of useful information to keep in mind! Stay metal! 🤘🏻Oh, and that Washburn is cool as hell!

Keep up the great work! I was pretty new to guitar when I found your channel but as a long time Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer fan I found your channel to be extremely helpful in getting the tones. And you have a great way of talking that makes it easy to listen to. And your playing is great also wich helps! I can honestly say that when it comes to gear you have been a huge inspiration. Because of your channel I have bought a Marshall DSL20H, both MXR EQ pedals and a MXR Wylde Overdrive (had to find that one used). And now i need a BOSS OD, a Holt Drive and a Fortin Grind too ;) You are doing the guitar community a great service with your channel.

One thing I do is have a chorus pedal at the end of the signal chain and keep the rate and depth at around noon so the effect isn't crazy but it makes the sound bigger and wider to me. That and a 10 band eq in the effects loop

My pedal setup is a boss sd1 for a clean boost with the tone knob at noon, mxr ten band eq for another clean mid boost, bbe sonic stomp maximizer and boss ns2. I don’t use any extra gain since my amp (peavey 3120) has a overkill amount on tap. Amp eq treble at noon mids at 11 o’clock and bass at 1-2 o’clock and gain at noon. My tone is tight chunky and punchy. I use bills lawrence usa pickups in my 58 flying v and my bridge pup is flipped just like dimebags. Awesome tone and pedal setup

Not new as in how old the guitar is but I think it’s new to his collection. Those guitars haven’t been in production since the early 2000s before Dime switched back to Dean in 2004. Those Washburn Dime guitars are really expensive, even the cheaper Korean/China made models are way way over priced just because they’re Washburn Dimes.

I suggest giving brujeria a listen too brutal band they were he played in.
