I can clear a line of TTs with speed, but not with pop. I could totally relate to your bunny hop woes too. I know that's a key for me and I don't practice the skill enough. That first jump you slow-mo'd, you honestly did awesome. The only issue there was timing. You were basically jumping off the jump 2' before the lip. Essentially bunny-hopping over the top of the jump instead of using the jump lol Just needed to adjust timing so your legs are fully extended when the rear tire hits the lip. That's all! The really cool thing about dialing in the timing, is that you no longer need to go as fast, which in my eyes, makes jumping safer! You're kicking a$$! BTW, I was the photographer on the clapped out YT Decoy at that Kolo jam 😂

Learning to jump properly takes time! There are many things happening fast for very short time! Main advice I could give is to learn how to lift front wheel then rear wheel! Connecting them both next would be the body position, which is very important! You have to move in a "L" shaped movement to get a proper Bunny-hop! Safe riding everyone, I hope I helped! 🤘

Jumping is a tough one. I think the psychological component needs to be discussed more. Look at it this way: the majority of riders that are TRULY good at jumping, started when they were 5-8 years old. At that time, the neural pathways in the brain are still developing and they're developing with jumping a bike being normal. However, if you come to jumping later in life, your brain isn't happy about it because, I'm convinced, it sees it as you hurling yourself through the air on a projectile. Everyone talks about how they "squash" jumps and I respond with "no shit, you're supposed to." It's your brains way to keeping you alive. You said it yourself, you rely on speed. Well, the first thing you need to do is SLOW DOWN to a speed you can be comfortable not squashing the takeoff. It's literally that simple, but it's EXTREMELY difficult.

at 3:18, aside from all the other points you made, one super important was left out: Your timing is off. If you look at where you reach your full extension, it's before even your front tire has reached the lip, where it should be when your rear wheel is at the lip. It feels odd but you will most definitely feel it when you get the timing correct. Lol, well, you covered it later in the video. I'd still, forget the bunny hop, it's definitely not needed to have ton of fun in the jumps, focus first on pushing your timing later until you actually push the extension when your rear wheel is almost at the end of the lip.

Grab a parking lot. Put a stick on the ground. Use it to bump your back wheel off. Your front wheel should miss it through the pre load and manual, and rear tire only makes contact when popping off and bunny hopping. Teaches timing and engagement for keeping the front wheel off the ground.

Wife kindly bought me a tutorial session for my 40th, worked on Bunny hops. The day after was my birthday and 'd lost use of my left arm just from that amount of work it'd never done before. More recently I've been at the local jump park where you can get in 50 or so laps in an eve and one night it just clicked, wasn't good but I was now clearing the jumps easily. Had a few injuries since then and been off the bike and I'm not quite back there yet but once you click it stops being hard as you throw effort in and start using technique.

I am by no means an expert, but it seems to me that on that first jump, the main issue was that you were extending too soon, getting fully extended while your back wheel was still going up the jump.
