Volkswagen Stock Corporation In America, it's the Volkswagen Group of America, also *commonly* referred to as Volkswagen Audi Group (or VAG), even though that's not an official name. Understanding that foreign brands rebrand or even change their name when they venture into other countries is pretty important. I've seen a lot of Germans online get upset about American pronunciations of German words and brands, but that's how they were originally marketed in the US, and that's what stuck.

You have to remember R32 , they're running a hell of a lot more pipe AND through a bunch of cats....most aftermarket exhaust for these remove the cats or at least some of them to get the sound, and are typically just short runs of pipe for $12k + which is ridiculous, have you ever priced an exhaust for one of these from a "boutique exhaust" manufacturer? It's typically upwards of 12k easily and I've seen as much as 20k.... for literally 4 total feet of pipe if that, no mufflers, no resonators, no nothing, just bare pipe.... don't understand that, especially when there's a jig already made from the first, and you look at another nice car with tens of extra feet in piping, resonators, mufflers, high flow cats, and and that'll be like 4k max.... it's like they know you bought the car so you'll just pay whatever for the exhaust.... and I'm not talking about the first exhaust run.

@johnnygeorgopoulos4072 yes…! “certain” systems are clearly a money grab… gold coatings and a “frequency balance tube” that only adds aesthetic complication to what would be 5 feet of tube. It’s frustrating trying to tell a customer why what we’re building using a decade and a half of experience is better but costs a touch less. This was a concept that I’m thrilled worked out cause it would have been a costly redo!!! 🤣

Seems like you were learning how to extract every ounce of power from it with the new system installed. If the same effort was put into the stock dyno run then you’d already know the quirks of the car and how to get the perfect dyno run by the time the new system was installed. Just curious what a stock car would make if you did the exact same sequence per run. Keep up the great videos!!!

We were anticipating a bit higher pitch as well, although I still feel as though the audio clips don't give full justice to the tone. Think you really have to see it in person to get the full experience... when that thing is going down the road man does it scream, you can feel it resonate inside your chest! Less curves would definitely be more ideal, as would a longer section behind the collector, but you can only do so much within the space constraints... We're happy with it, and our customer is thrilled with the sound and power so that's a win in my book!

How much of the gain is because the baseline /stock was heat soaked and sub optimal?
@FluidMotorUnion
@FluidMotorUnion 3 ай бұрын
This and the time of year we did the stock dyno runs I have questions on as well. This build took almost 3 1/2 months to complete so the initial runs where done when I didn’t even notice the heat soak issues as the ambient room temp from the fresh air inlets (looks like the room was in the 50s with outside air in the low 30s) as opposed to this week where the room was in the high 80s with the car hot. So maybe it could even be slightly higher, or possibly less. However I don’t typically have issues with a customer car feeling slower than the numbers put down… it’s always the other way around. “The numbers are low” -does it feel faster? “Yea” We waited for the feed back of the customer. He was blown away by the power increase. We also dynoed another car where we were familiar with its power. No abnormalities. The rooms “weather box” is supposed to put a calculation factor in for humidity and temperature, but it doesn’t account for latent heat that builds in the engine taking longer to dissipate into the surrounding ambient air. We have 20 min of film talking about discrepancies and dyno fluctuations and removed 10 min we originally had in the cut, but it just dragged... We watched around other “similar popular content” and realized nobody was doing that, so we cut it, and said we would do our best to answer questions! Looks like we may be better able to account for these differences now that we’ve done this the first time 👍

It’s true if u look up Exaust scavenge effect it’s like supercharging an engine w the exhaust system. As the exhaust leaves the car it sucks new air in on the opposite piston using back pressure kinda like a 2 stroke
@jdoe9518
@jdoe9518 3 ай бұрын
@@kylenverner106 everything said after exhaust scavenge is incorrect. It also implies the manufacturer and engineers that built the car originally have no idea how the exhaust system works in combination with the rest of engine. Scavenge is a result of optimising pressure wave pulse timing with pipe grouping based on firing order. Fun fact. If the system is well designed and built you only move the peak performance up or down the rpm range due pulse wave speed being directly related to engine rpm, pipe diameter and pipe length. Every thing is always a compromise

The funny thing is, that you still have a convoluted mess of pipes running out to the exit. I believe the exhaust could be even better with a tweak. If you reply to this message and we branch contacts, maybe i would even fund an alternative design just for the fun of it.. and i don't even own an Aventador lol.

You need to get one of those on one of the big KZbinrs cars, Supercar Ron, Hamilton Collection, Tripple F Collection or even Stradman. That would get it noticed. DDE did it for Gintany.

Where do you get the 29% drivetrain loss? In modern cars its widely accepted drivetrain loss is around 15%-20% depending on transmission and if the vehicle is AWD. Seems the Aventador is a little overrated power wise? Nice gains though with the exhaust and great design!

What did you do about the thermocouplers (catalytic temperature probes)? They tend to burn up. Did you relocate them? Did you tune them out?

The egts shouldn’t change much, it was reading cat temps but now still same place. Never had an issue with them as long as they are reinstalled in the same approximate location, unless they aren’t handled with care with is the most common problem. We do A LOT of exhaust design and haven’t run into that issue.

@cameronwilliamson3754 got the faults? We build good exhaust setups- but we’re even better at diag, maybe we can give you a direction or, we’ve ran into it before. Same car?

Can an ECU from a 2001 Saturn be hacked? I built a custom intake with a Pontiac supercharger. I'm leaning towards a 4-cylinder Colorado ECU as they both have 7 tooth reluctor wheels and I have hp tuners. I just don't know if you can switch off the cam sensor as the Saturn doesn't have one. I'd have to convert to coil on plug
