Working on my 1989 Lamborghini Countach replica, built by D&R Replicas on a 1985 Pontiac Fiero, needed some upgrades so that the doors could be operated easily, fixing the broken turn signal and re-mounting the battery and other small upgrades.

Good to see you giving this thing some love. Looks like those mirrors are the Vitaloni Baby Turbos.... Countach used the larger non-Baby Turbos. They look very similar.

@RobertMoseley The black cannon ball run car used the earlier Vitaloni Tornado style mirrors... they're larger flag shapes. The additional vertical size may help here if you can find a set or something similar.

What the heck I’ll leave another comment to help the algorithm. The reason a lot of the small details weren’t done is because that’s the hard stuff. All the attention to detail is hard stuff. The body on the frame is something it looks like they’re very good at but the wheel wells and things like that. Take a lot of time And having no ventilation system is just on space safe at any speed. If the passenger has no way to get out in a crash and the driver‘s door is bashed shut that’s another big issue. I love this video. I love the fact that you’re going through this car. I’m going to make it right But The bill just seems to have been pretty haphazard and not well thought out almost like they wanted to just get it out the door. You know what it takes to do a good job so you’re the guy who can fix this - good luck and we look forward to following along.

I just bought a new rivnut tool myself, tired of all the little plastic pushpin things that hold the fender liners and such on my car. They are a pita half the time to undo, and the other half of the time they pop out on their own and the fender liner falls and rides against my tire while I'm driving....

The other thing is adding power steering somehow. They become really hard to steer also. No power steering at all.

Getting the door correct is almost always failed on these kit cars, mainly because of the structure and use of fiberglass as opposed to aluminum. It's the first dead give away. The Countach door is work of art.

Only thing I'd suggest would be a ls4 from a grand prix gtp or Monte Carlo ss. Asside from more power, it'd be reliable.

@ It's a Fiero with a plastic body on it, you could increase the 0-60 if you beefed up the frame, but any high speed in this thing and it would blow off the road. Other than making noise, which would sound nothing like a V12, there is no point in putting a big engine in this thing. The original V6 is totally reliable.

@@sinformant You have to be able to fit it in transverse, on the Fiero models. Some tube chassis versions can take a full sized engine, depending on the transaxle, usually from a Porsche, there are a lot of configurations, I discuss that a true replica could never be made unless you had a real Lamborghini drive train.

Hallo from Greece. I am 49yearsold and mechanic since 1996. All i see is a bigger hotwheel car in size but godforbid if you are on the road in this hotwheel and an f-something hit you. The only thing that i believe they found is a little red dot on that f-000 front bumper.😢

What size tire are you running ? You need 325 50 15 Nitto tires not crazy price like countach 345 and will fill up rear wheel opening better

The safety rating or lack there of, kind of would freak me out a little? I know you say you don't drive it that often but still. The location of the fuel tank is a prime concern? It should be to the front of the rear axel tucked in between the frame rails. Other than that is the lack of a reinforced passenger compartment? If you're ever in a wreck where you can't open up the doors because there jammed... It quickly could turn into a bad situation. You'd be down to having to get out through the windows. I know a standard Fiero had a 5 star rating in 1984 but, so many things have been altered... I hope you might consider what I'm saying and at least verify the location of the fuel tank and that it is a G.M. plastic fuel tank. And if that thing ends up on it's roof? How will you open up the doors? You can't. Again, you'll have to go through the windows. I know it's for fun. But there has got to be a safer car.

Here's how you can fix the lifting of the doors. I noticed with the door cards off, the gas lifters had adjustable mounting positions. Simply move the mounting position one space forward.

Why? A countach has no weight in the front, only the battery and spare tire is there on a real one. This car is plenty heavy, fiberglass, steel, etc. A real one would be aluminum and weighs much less.

@@RobertMoseley you said it has a take off potential issue at high speeds, so it would be logical to add weight to the front to stop that, even if all you do is toss some heavy weights in the front trunk ,that would make the car a lot safer to drive faster
