I doubt that Supras would go that high. Supras in my country go from 7,500€ ( around 8,850$) to 12,000€ (14,100$). We have none low mileage ones for sale tho, but there are quite a few driven around 110k-150k meters (70-90k miles). Ofc mk3 isnt so legendary supra but just decided to tell this as I saw it while scrolling through those prices that there is one built with 1013,9hp / 1243Nm that has been driven only 19k meters (12k miles) that is up for sale for 28,5k€ (33,6k$).

You would actually make the supra worse making it that much lighter. lighter isn't always better, you want high speed stability. The chassis is heavy because it IS strong. it's designed for high speed, unlike even the RX7 - the supra was wind-tunneled to 185MPH when toyota was first making the mk4. That's why Lambos and stuff weigh all like 3500-4100lbs. they practically NEED to be made of carbon fiber over a steel frame to keep from being any heavier. a heavy ball and a light ball at high velocity require the same energy if the horsepower can get it moving in the first place. at 1000whp, a 3300lb supra is better than a 2500lb supra which will have a lower top speed since it doesn't have the kinetic energy to stay straight in the wind like the heavier car. it will be pushed around and lose grip. As for the gearbox. the supra is hardly the car lacking the millions of options for a gearbox. v160/161, joel grannas T56 (millions of options in that of itself), on top all the dog boxes and slush boxes you can get.

A supra is never going to be a super lightweight time attack monster. It's more of a GT car. They're big, pretty heavy, and comfortable. I would say you would be better off swapping a 2j into another chassis, but even that would be kind of a waste. 2jz's are beast, but MAN are they heavy. Their place is in a straight line.

i haven't heard a lesser true statement. The supra is between 3100-3400lbs at its highest heaviest trim. Thats nothing today. it does however aid in high speed stability. Its suspension geometry is very good and it can definitely corner. A cast iron straight six hasen't stopped any other sports car from being good on a track, there's absolutely no reason why it would stop the supra. (All M series bmws come with even bigger and heavier straight 6s than the supras 3 litre. they do just fine). not to mention the supra was a more refined sports car with better balancing than an M3 which is more of a family sedan and coupe made to be good at corners too. They aren't big either. The supra is heavy for it's size (very small). If you park it next to an S13, it's literally shorter and lower to the ground. needless to say its MUCH smaller than any BMW M3 or 5. Its actually comparable to a GT86 in size. the GT86 being bigger. overall. Lastly, its very easy to lighten a supra. The weight is in the steel reinforcement engineered throughout the body, designed to keep it strong at high speed. and also from being a Targa. Did you know the hardtop supra only weighs 3100lbs? even when it's 6 speed and twin turbo. a Single conversion shaves 70lbs right off the bat from the turbo manifold, piping, and exhaust weight. Racing seats in place of the heavy leather seats looses another 70 or so lbs. you're now in the low 2900s without touching hardly anything.

and actually, a 2jz in a lighter car would be worse. they don't go as fast if the car is too light. race an S14 swapped 2jz against a supra in the texas mile, with the same horsepower, the supra will go faster. why? aerodynamics and weight. An S14 will start flapping around in the wind at much over 145-150mph. the whole front end will shake and warp the plastics. the wind resistance on the windshield alone will be insane and the car could loose control very easily. the noise in the cabin will be tremendous like it's ripping itself apart. it will be VERY apparent at that speed that it's a cheap car that was never designed to go that fast. The supra on the other hand was wind tunneled. much more money went into it and at 150mph, well lets just say you could be going that fast and not realize it. it feels very planted and stable. the underbody and aerodynamic shape is much better flowing to combat turbulence where the S14 wasn't even thought of in the design process due to budget and purpose of the vehicle. This is with both 2jzs making the same. lets say 600hp.
