I have a 2005 Octavia Mk 1 1.8T vRS Kombi that was remapped a month after I bought it, it was 4 years old when I bought it with 42K miles on it. Now it has 102K miles on it, feels just like it was when I first bought/rechipped it and has started to increase in value. It surprises a lot of 'boy-racer' types and is as 'non-descript' as can be, is only on it's second battery from new and I cannot ever see me parting with it - the best £6750 I ever spent !

It really would need 20k to find something of a similar performance etc etc and I have had it so long I would almost feel like I'd lost a family member ! I bought it at the end of 2009 after someone rear-ended a Fabia I had, the insurance payout was very good on that car and I actually only put £1800 to it to get the Octavia. Apart from steel wheels, a remap and Pipercross air filter it is standard and spares are fairly plentiful and cheap so it'll probably see me out..... and it meets these ULEZ rules that seem to be a soon to be nationwide thing !

That is as a stroker, with an added twin turbo, a mostly rebuilt engine and unbelievably cost. Meanwhile, a few bolt-on mods will get your 1.8t octavia RS to a pretty easy 300-ish hp, a few more mods and youll break the 500. Thats 'tunable'. Every engine can make 1000hp, the question is, how long and how complicated.
