The most obvious thing is that the sleepers need 4 wheel drive to put the power down properly. Plus sequential gearboxes. EDIT: The Audi at 11:28 showed what can be done.

I want to see a F1 gearbox or DTM or old lambo in it. Just simple spur gears from one shaft to another. Synchromesh. Put it in the center of the car with flex shafts to both the diff and the flywheel. A clockwork and pneumatic throw in the cogs and pull the other out. Maybe cogs can have an air cushion and oil cushion if you get the tolerance right? Still I guess that the (single) clutch slips a bit until the wheels are spun up. Loose directional stability for a second.
