What a sad ending😔 I have a 07 s6 and was really wanting to see the outcome and maybe even take inspiration from this. It looked sooo awesome. I’m glad no one was hurt but I am truly sad for that car. Can’t wait for the next project🥲

there's a whole community that has intake manifold issues wondering how the car run with this style intake and if it is a great mod for long term alternatives

@@theanarchygarage I have plans to do the same mod to mine. The flaps in mine have stopped working and with the OEM intakes jumping to $4k USD and having the same poor design, I don't see that as the best option. The only company in the US that was doing any development on the C6/D3 platforms, has moved on. If I don't do the R8/Lambo intake, I'm going to work on either a flap repair, or new intake.

The cap on the fuel pressure regulator on-top of the engine popped. So sprayed fuel all over the engine while it was running.

Its still the Audi 5.2 bottom end and heads though. The 5.0 used in the 1st gen Gallardo is totally different compared to the 5.2 used in the S8 and S6. And then you have the 5.2 thats used in the R8 and the 2nd generation Gallardo.

I think you just answered your own question, it’s the second generation 5.2 found in the R8 and Gallardo for bottom end. That’s why all the top end bolts on 👍🏻

Just wondering what part is was that failed, as I’m working with the same motor. I’m assuming some line or component failed and sprayed fuel everywhere ? Was it the step up fuel pump, driven off the cams to get to Direct Injection pressure, or it’s pipe work. Haven’t heard much of that failure before

Hello it was the pump driven from the cam on top of the engine. The cap popped on the end due to the bolts becoming brittle over time and sprayed fuel all over the engine.

@@theanarchygarage whoa !!! I know the part, the cap and the bolts. Had thought of removing mine to powder coat the caps as part of the build. Got me thinking of some preventative maintenance -> replace the bolts. Do you know if Audi had any advice on scheduled replacement?

I just carbon clean and I had plastic bits bouncing on the valves:( all good now gutted the intake and some other things car runs better than ever also audi s6 v10

I have been thinking of doing that same mod to the engine but there's one thing that I haven't figured out yet...or well, two...but first things first. At 8:50 it can be seen that you have got a new injector kit/set/something. This is what I'm trying to find more on, as in what should I be looking for. So far I haven't found anything that seems to remotely even be able to fit, it's either too short or just looks to be at a weird angle so that nothing would fit. Any help or advice on this?

The upper and lower plenum from the Gallardo was used and phenolic spacer was then cast to join it all onto the engine 👍🏻

For anyone who needs to know how to calibrate throttle body's on S and RS cars, turn the car on so the dashboard lights up but don't start it. Press the accelerator all the way to the floor, release, floor, release, turn the car off and pull the key out. Start the car. If it doesn't start then repeat as above but floor and release 5 times and remove the key. This saves you having to recalibrate via VCDS but VCDS is more accurate and if there's a failure VCDS will tell you why and where.

Hi, we had a Gallardo upper and lower intake, throttle bodies, vacuum solenoids and a lot of pipe work. It’s not straight drop on due to the vacuum lines.

Hello, the intake didn’t cause the fire. The end cap blew off the high pressure fuel pump ontop of the engine.

@@franka506 this was the stock fuel system, the magnesium bolts that hold the cap on the end of the pump had become brittle and broke. So possible changing them for new or stainless maybe the preventive action.

Hi thanks for getting in touch, it doesn’t quite bolt up, Slater had adapter plates made up, it’s very close though. You may even get away with phenolic spacers.

Looks like someone in the R8 V10 camp caught wind of this S6 stealing their thunder and decided to ‘handle it.’ Now I’m curious-what were those dyno numbers before the sabotage? Can you imagine what this V10 setup could do against the R8 platform? This could’ve been the hidden gem no one’s dared to try. If you guys give it another go, you might just unlock the biggest V10 budget mod in motorsport history! Lamborghini will be pissed the video will probably go wild

Yes, the lads are sponsored and very looked after by the guys at FEV Fire Suppression and always make sure they have fire extinguishers in all the cars. Unfortunately some fires are just too much to even attempt to put out with a standard extinguisher
