I’m not convinced about the Lamello as a long term jointing technology. I’d use them for construction of say kitchen carcasses which have a relatively short lifespan (10 years?). But is a person is commissioning a bespoke piece of furniture I would expect them to view it as a legacy piece with a much longer service life.

I'm with you Chris. The Lamello is an extremely clever piece of kit but I'm pretty sure it was designed with carcass construction in mind rather than fine joinery. That said, it's an interesting idea combining it with a Domino.

Lamello as an alternative to a clamp on a mitre is just heaven , I think you also need a solid joint to which I why I like both. its not for ever job that for sure.. but my Ply Wardrobes , Kitchens its hard to beat and the mitre its so tight . if you have large and lots of mitres you can fid that clamp can twist the piece out of square sometime but with the Lamello the pressure is just at the one joint .!

Chris B I have been using biscuit joints for many decades. Some of my constructions have lasted decades with the lamello and other biscuit connections. They are just as reliable as dominos and floating tenons.

That is a very good idea and as you say not a pile of clamps. I love your Patron channel as i can see it ahead of youtube and a lot more detail in the builds i would recommend Patron to all your subscribers and anyone who does'nt subscribe. Keep the great videos coming

Cool, the domino could also be replaced by two 12 mm dowels. A lot cheaper.

Thoughts: That Domino-hole across the 45 has very little meat and is near the end. I dont think it will add anything to strengh. I would think of making it at 45 like the Lamello. Arend there fat Lamello bicuits to be used with the Zeta P2? A second slot would be invisible and, if glued well, will add a lot to strength. Even a #20 4mm Biscuit has a cross section like a 17mm Dowel and a even bigger gluing surface. Do not underrate Biscuits. They are massiv Beechwood and bigger than dowels. The dont put stress in the bearing material due to no sharp corners. I kind of like them.

You can also do that , I have tests coming very soon .. I think you will be surprised at how strong the small amount of wood add... as I said its not for everything or everyone ,but i have designed a dinning table and the base system works very well with this system

I would think the lamello is the clamp and the glue is strong enough anyway without a domino? Is it woodworking paranoia here?... I am very guilty of it too , can over engineer at times:)

Prob better to put two smaller doms offset to avoid the clip fitting totally, plus more twist resistant.
