Finally, a video that addresses silk! Silk is a PITA to work with! I’m making Christmas ornaments with UV resin, using swatches of my late FIL’s silk neckties. The fabric has to be sealed or it discolors BADLY! I tried every type of sealer/glue that was recommended, all with awful results. I decided to try my laminator and it’s a game changer. Lots and lots of experimentation, but I have actually gotten better results using my iron rather than running it through the laminator. For use in resin, though, you have to laminate both sides, and you have to leave a narrow border of the laminating film around the piece (otherwise, the resin will seep through the edges and discolor the silk.). Thank you for this video❣️

Im glad you enjoyed the video Margaret, you sound very experimental, I simply lack the time (insert sad face here!)

This was fun! Wow.. What a revelation... and always love your sense of humour... and how you try these things and take us with you. Can't wait to see what you make. Thank you🌻💕

What a great idea and thanks for trying it out so we can all see the ups and downs....perhaps the matt laminating sheet was a thicker one. The result certainly looked duller. Enjoy playing!!

I’ve made my first journal and saw a video of someone glueing a gel print and fabric together for a cover I soaked it into the glue it took all day and night to dry but it worked and I now have my first journal cover. It’s so exciting when something works x

Have you tried that with tissue, it works really well, it's a bit plastic feeling but works well. I'm going to laminate the Gelli printed fabrics I have made recently so carry on watching! Thank you so much for commenting 💞

Thanks for the vid ...may I suggest you get a bit of software to edit your videos...or get prep all the things you need in place one...I am sure you will get more views - hope that doesn’t sound like I’m being grumpy just trying to help ...

Hi Paula, thanks for the advice, I don't edit, mainly because I don't like edited videos myself, you lose so much of the thinking behind what's being created, I like to keep it real, like your sat in the room with me creating, grabbing things as they come to mind, it's kind of become my style I guess? I do get most things ready, I just forget the odd thing, like paint brushes in the bathroom! But usually I take 20 mins before recording just to make sure everything is to hand, but I sometimes change ideas halfway through a project then have to get stuff, I usually pause if that happens.

I've just started the video so I don't know if you tried this (or if it would work with your project) but you can laminate just one side of the fabric. Get a piece of parchment (NOT WAXED!!!) paper and lay your fabric on it, face up. Take one sheet of a laminating pouch- cut it in half or cut it to size- and lay it glue side down on top of the fabric. I run it through that way but if you feel better you can put it inside a folded piece of parchment paper or notebook paper or printer paper, or even a thermal pouch if you have that. What that does is get more heat to the fabric and the laminating sheet, because it's not trying to heat through two pieces of laminating pouch. Does that make any sense? I just watched this in a video yesterday but of course I can't find it now- Not even in my history- If I do, I'll link it here. *** Watched a bit more and now that I know you only need to laminate the front of the fabric, this technique should work fine for you. If you don't have parchment (baking) paper, you should be able to just use plain old printer paper. I would test a small scrap of fabric to make sure it doesn't burn but I've never had a problem. Good luck and don't give up!❤

Your comments are brilliant 💡 thank you so much for the help ❤️

You don't need two sheets of paper between the fabric and the laminating pouch, one is plenty. See my other comment about not using the back piece of the laminating pouch at all, lol.

The laminator wasn’t hot enough when you started. I laminate fabric all the time
