Great video Lamley, Imo this was one of the best years for matchbox, I agree when you said it was very diverse this year, we got evs, classic cars, in between etc. Matchbox did a nice job this year with most of their castings mix 5 and mix 6 really did it for me this year though. Matchbox will probably be even better next year, with many more castings on the way!

I may be in the minority but I love the Citroen Ami. Such a fun car. I picked the BMW Wagon because I’m a sucker for wagons. Worst I’m going with the Gladiator

The Citroen Ami was my favorite casting of the year! It was beautifully executed by the designers and is such a cute, real life car (I believe the accurate term for it is a “quadricycle”). I am thankful for when diecast can teach me about cars I’ve never heard of like this one.

Really disappointed with that Charger. That HUGE metal hanging down from the undercarriage in the front of the car is a bad look. On a lifted Jeep or Truck it is expected, but on a street car just too distracting for me. It could have been really special. For favorite, I voted for the 3000GT. Looks perfect in the side view.

Matchbox mainlines are fantastic. One of my faves this year was the subaru svx. I have been let down by the collectors editions and moving parts, mainly by the inclusion of plastic parts when diecast would be better in terms of avoiding paint mismatch and general product quality. It's a shame as the designs for the vehicles are top class.

It was hard between the Lexus and Cadilac because those are two old school lincenses matchbox has had for a long time and the old 2000-2014 lexus and cadillac models from matchbox were amazing!

I get tired of people voting for Porsches as best model of the year, but I can't ignore that 918. There's something about it that's just perfect, the shaping, the paint, the wheel choice, the clean deco, it all comes together for a fantastic model. For most disappointing, I'm actually going with the Lexus. The gap between the metal and plastic for the two-tone is too noticeable and really brings down the model. It just needs better fitment.

It's hard to pick a favorite because of how much variety there was like you said. That's a great thing because that's what Matchbox was all about. Despite the cost-cutting measures, Matchbox lately has reminded me of the golden age of the mid-late 2000s. That's when Matchbox was in its prime (thanks to Ryu Asada) and when I was a kid playing with them. They were the preferred choice of cars to play with over Hot Wheels because of their emphasis on realism. That's why I hated seeing their direction change in late 2011 into 2012. It's been a long recovery since but now I can safely say that Matchbox is back to their roots and focusing on realistic street cars again. I just wish they were made the same way as 15 years ago when cost-cutting wasn't even a thing such as the lack of chrome, no interiors, blue-tint windows, and bulky safety posts that plagues the brand now. Despite all of this, I will still forever collect Matchbox because of the nostalgia it provides.

All set to vote for the Opel which is so cool to see in diecast form. But then at the very end the 1940 Dodge Truck kind of wowed me. I’m not even a truck guy. They did a great job with the front details, the color scheme is really nice and the casting looks cool.

Loved the E91 3-Series Wagon and 918 Spyder. That era of the automobile is right up my alley, but I feel as if we don't see too many of them in today's diecast world. Those casts are so well done, though the taillights on the E91 look a bit odd and could do without the metal post in the back. 918 is better than Hot Wheels' version, hopefully it goes premium one day. Want to see them in more exciting colours too, but great start. Too many of these EV SUVs, hopefully 2023 will significantly reduce on the sheer volume we saw this year. They're ugly and boring in real life and it's the same in diecast too. I don't care for any of them, but the small cars I'm okay with. Especially the Citroen Ami - such a unique and well done item. Want to see more micro-cars in the future, even if they're electric. Really felt that "so many white Teslas on the road" line.

Best new basic Matchbox for 2022 was a bit of a toss-up for me, what with TWO really well done Ford F-150s in the lineup, but I wound up going with the 1940 Dodge Pickup. I just love how they accomplished the two-tone, and though I really wish that they had actually made the back window part of the window piece instead being cast as part of the body (saw that last year or the year before with a classic Ford pickup by Hot Wheels, so what are you gonna do), the headlight castings more than make up for that, my eyes were immediately drawn to them! Well done! As for most disappointing, I went with the Ford C900. I've been following the progress of that model from Proof to Preview through other diecast sources, and I was really excited for it! And then it showed up in the basic line. Man, was I bummed out! A semi truck without a matching trailer to pull is like Abbott without Costello, Linus without his blanket, Ross without Rachel - I could go on. Alas, Matchbox has never gone the route of other manufacturers of model semis and offered separate trailers for their basic tractors. I'm seriously hoping for a return of this particular Shell livery with a matching tanker trailer for the Convoy line, but alas, history is against me here, as Matchbox has never before re-released a single semi tractor from their basic, 5-pack, or multipack lineups with matching trailers. I'm just saying that, should you guys decide to start doing so, then you have at least one person in the market for such!

I’m new to “The Lamley Group” and have been trying to watch your most recent videos because they are more likely to include cars I have recently acquired - during my year-long 1/64 binge.🤪 I am VERY impressed with some of the vehicles you’ve shown in this video. Like you, I feel somewhat bamboozled, flim-flammed , ripped-off by the Ford exercising their right to name an electric SUV crossover a “Mustang.” I disliked it right away and was spontaneously bored by their presence when I spotted one on the road! However, your presentation of the Matchbox rendering actually made it attractive! You featured some great releases in this video and I have to say the “Classics” were my favorites; love that Dodge truck!

In my opinion, the best Matchbox main line models would be both the Mitsubishi GTO 1st Facelift and Porsche 918 Spyder Not many diecast/miniscale manufacturer would even bother to produce Mitsubishi GTO/Dodge Stealth, so having to see it is already very good since it's the underdog of the 90's JDM, yet actually deserves all the praise for it's performance, high tech (of the time), and beautiful design with it's wide yet sleek curves all over the body (on par with A80 Supra and FD RX-7 design) For 918 Spyder, it's good, while not being the 1st, but hey, Matchbox being the 1st to actually gives you a hardtop 918 Hotwheels, Majorette, they all gives you an open top 918 I enjoy the hardtop 918 so much, for I can put it on display with my Hotwheels Carrera GT and compare them together (and they have the same grey color too)

Best: Porsche 918 Spyder and Opel Kadett. Most disappointing: Dodge Durango because it has no interior and the Citroen Ami because the top is all plastic wich makes it look cheap. Overall, 2022 was a great year for Matchbox mainlines and i expect even better things for the 70th Anniversary in 2023.

The 1940 dodge truck is by far the most disappointing for me. Same reason the 32 ford was my most disappointing from last year. Matchbox is finally releasing these amazing early cars which I cant wait to customize, only for them to come with filled in rear windows. It seriously bothers me. I guess theres a reason they need to do it, but it seems weird that they'd use more metal to fill in the window. Especially as we see hot wheels cutting as many corners as possible to save metal by adding those weird see through hoods and massive sun roofs that in my opinion ruin the casting. On the other hand,perfect

The Dodge Durango is such a cool looking car, but totally ruined/spoilt by the black plastic windows. Like a cheap no-name 50c brand. The WORST. Contrast that with the BMW wagon with clear windows and interior.
