The Audi is a tribute to the 1985 Pike's Peak Hillclimb car. Michelle Mouton shattered the record in this car, the first production-based car and the first woman to do that.

The 934.5 has a hint of the Brumos Porsche team - though they use red and blue stripes. The Sport Quattro is the '84-5 livery, just without the main sponsor, HB cigarettes (where the yellow comes from). Great set!

Adarsh yeah same here. On average I probably get 1 from each car culture set. Sometimes none of a set’s cars “speak to me” but this set is too good. The Audi and the RS200 are incredible.

Absolutely beautiful set in total, really hope I can find them all at once. Got to love how they all have that matching white. Just a lovely selection of known and more exotic cars. Usually I only get one or two from a series but this whole Thrill Climber set matter.

I am so excited for this set. I've seen the VW in person, as I live at the base of Pikes Peak. Its Pikes Peak livery was a very light gray color with a white outline representing the headlights, with the black roof. And you are right - the rear wing is absurd!

Awesome, should have been theme "Rally Kings", one can hope. Love the Ford, second mid engine racer after the GT-40 and that Lancia is the only other model (?) in HW collection after the Stratos. Talking about Lancia, waiting for the Delta Integrale to show up! Cheers.

I think the reason they don't named it "Rally Kings" is because Volkswagen ID-R it's not participating on the Rally events, but Hill climbs. And since the Sport Quattro, RS200 & 037 did make some appearance on hill climb, it's just have more sense to call it what they called now. But good point on mentioning the Stratos for come back

I'd rank them 1. Audi. 2. Lancia. 3. Ford. 4. Porsche. 5. VW. My favorite casting is the Porsche but it has one of the worst HW rims on it (so much plastic). Overall, an okay set for me - decent but not great. I think that is because I'm not too keen on many of the cars in real life and I wish the liveries were a bit more authentic and the wheels less plasticky. That said, I think HW is doing a terrific job with their premium line. Lots of releases. Lots of new models. Lots of variety. Full detail at an affordable price. Decent quality with high quality and nice rolling rubber wheels. Their models are way better than MBX superfast (were they strangely stopped doing full detail).

Probably my favorite Hot Wheels Premium set for 2020. Three new castings, all beautifully made. I like them all, but if i had to choose one that would be the Lancia 037. RS200 and VW ID R look sweet as well. If i had _one_ complain though, that would be that some tampos look grainy up-close...let's hope Mattel will improve the print quality for 2021 sets. Anyway, what a set. Thanks for the detailed presentation Lamley!

Those low resolution printing job scared me and I ran away from HW. The print job on Majorette, Tomica Premium is thousand years ahead of HW for even less cost (AND they all have real plastic headlight which is HUGE bonus, headlight is the soul/eyes of the car).

I already got them faster than you for the first time! I love them all! For anyone who grew up in the 80's these are memories too! In fact my second diecast I can remember as a kid was a matchbox RS200 in white that I still have! The first was a BMW M1 in silver. Now I'm looking forward for the Delta HF Integrale that it is coming soon! I will def get another Lancia to make it a real Martini Racing, I have already got the decals! I wish for a Peugeot 205 too!

Loving the Thrill Climbers set, great choice of castings! One big question for Mattel though... why is Mattel not applying the silver chrome finish to the wheels of the Lancia as per the card art. Mattel are making a habit of skipping the wheel finishes lately, where the card art shows silver chrome and the actual model has plain unfinished dark-grey wheels. Recent examples are the Toyota Supra from the F&F Premium diorama set, Nissan Silvia (S14) from Fast Tuners, Nissan Skyline GT-R (R33) from Quick Shifters, Honda NSX from Quick Shifters. As a long time collector it disappoints me to see the car not match the card art in the wheel department. To me these cars would be much more accurate with the silver chrome wheels promised in the card art. Just my 2c.

They probably didn't bother/don't have plans to develop the Chrome paint for the wheels. If they use the same Chrome paint on the mainline, they could fading away like what they do normally

The chrome 6-spoke wheels already exist and have been used previously on premium models released by Mattel (HW), which is why I'm disappointed they are not being re-used on these recent premium models. The 8-hole wheels on the Lancia are a recently developed wheel style that I have not seen in chrome yet, only in black on the F&F Grand National, but it should not be difficult to make them in silver chrome. Yes you are correct, with the mainlines, the chrome does wear off the wheels if the cars are handled too much and played with, but with the premiums they usually are only displayed so it shouldn't be a problem. It’s odd that they put the 959 with the Wild Terrain set instead of this set. Not complaining but was surprised they went with Lancia 037 and not the Lancia Delta. To me the Delta is more important. I don’t think I’ve seen an 037 at 1/64 scale. Incredible set still

I have been anticipating this set for TWO MONTHS since the early reveals of each car. The first set since Circuit Legends released a couple years ago that I think really sends HWCC flinging forward to great lengths, but also a set that I SERIOUSLY want to double up on (I don't need 50 of the same 5 cars, I just want 2 or 3 for showcasing, back up, and display). These are all cars (save for the Porsche, even though they always have) have history and heritage that I've learned about which helps me to FULLY appreciate the fact that HW went for it and produced a HOME RUN set of castings (all tributes, all showstoppers). And when it comes down to the "Lanica", and the RS200, it's REALLY hard for me (since I think these two are somethin' special hands down) to really choose a favorite, but I definitely see which one's the star of this set. Now the only thing that I need to know is.. Walmart.. or, Target...? Thank you so much for the video Lamley (I was actually looking forward to your showcase for awhile), I loved the vibe of the intro and I absolutely LOVE your choice of Synthwave/Retro tunes in the background. Also, thanks for helping me reignite the Collector in me. Been a fan since Circuit Legends, and still find you to be one of my favorite HW previewers, straight up. Keep rockin' it man!
