I am a 53 year old disabled vet, I used to surf, ride Moto Cross when I was injured overseas that was taken away, I received a life changing shoulder injury that left me with a prosthetic shoulder I still have mobility but I can't surf or ride bikes anymore. As an adrenalin junky I really had an empty spot in my life, it wasn't until I watched an episode of Braille where this older guy was skating, I want to thank Aaron for that for bringing that excitement and feeling back again a year later I have taught myself with the help from (Braille videos) to Ollie, Manual and I accidently learned fakie Ollie's. So say what you will about Aaron Kyro and Braille but he is doing what his plan getting new people into skateboarding! Thanks Again Braille!

A few months back I was in SF, feeling bad about myself. You see, I don't have much money and the only thing that seems to grow in my back yard are onions, so that's what most of my meals consist of...onion porridge, roasted onion with onion butter, deep fried onion, onion gumbo, etc. The thing about eating onions is if you eat enough of them you start to smell like an onion. My skin, my breath, my clothes, my hair - it all has the smell of onion, which only gets worse when I'm sweating. I was scared that I was gonna be harassed for being different, but I worked up the courage to hit up a local skatepark and who do I see at the skatepark but Richard Glaser himself. Ricky had been skating for a while, and he had worked up quite a sweat. As I got closer, I noticed a distinct smell emanating from his body...it was sour cream. The smell was so strong I was sure others could smell it too, but no one seemed to care. They just did their own thing and let Ricky do his. I didn't say anything to him because I didn't want to embarrass the guy, but I just skated as hard as I could alongside him and didn't care how it made me smell. Thank you for helping me get over my insecurities, Ricky!

Bro the revive and Powell comparison is so off, revive is youtubers and not pro or core skaters selling boards and doing the cliche KZbinr corny voice and shit, while Powell is core and a classic skate brand with notable pros that then started KZbin - to reduce it to simply skaters doing KZbin is disingenuous

i was 8 too when i "started" skateboarding, mainly riding my probably 10 inch white with top design and clear grip fishboard around, then one or 2 years later i got my first modern shape skateboard and was fliping it in the corner of our fence gate like crazy, i was doing double hardflips tre doubles and stuff, by holding myself up until the board landed, sometimes i even cached it in the air

As someone who works in finance/credit let me give some advice. Never ever trust someone else to make payments on something that will impact your credit. Lesson learned for Ricky. It seems to me like the industry wants skaters to need the companies more than the companies need the skaters. The industry is only a certain size and production costs being what they are, I suspect most companies can’t afford to pay skaters what their draw is worth and if the skaters are making enough on their own, buying gear becomes a tax write-off and sponsorships become optional. If I’m right about that, the industry needs to (and somewhat appears to slowly be) moving toward symbiosis with its more popular or influential skaters. I think there’s room for the traditional approach along with the influencer approach, but it’ll always be in flux. That instability is rough on a business until they learn to read the waves, so to speak.
