I have watched this a few times and gone back and reviewed parts. It's like, go to the bead room and torch a while, then watch Jeannie's videos, then torch some more, then back to your videos. Great reference!

Jeannie, you are so kind and generous with your time and knowledge! I am literally JUST getting started after being a fuser for nearly a decade, and I've made a few beads with the beginner kit you can get at Amazon. I have learned a LOT with trial and error, read a book, watched a LOT of videos, mostly yours (LOL!) and once I can master the shaping part as you've shown here, I am going to invest a little at a time into a better torch and higher quality glass. You give me hope Jeannie, LOL! Thank you again, you are a life saver :-) p.s. as you've said before, this IS a lot of fun!

Thank you! It does take time and sometimes can get frustrating, but you WILL get better. Everyone's beads were "funky" when first starting, we've all been there. The main point is - you need to keep going, keep playing and practicing, and most important - having FUN! Best of luck! :)

I have enjoyed Jeannie's tutorials for years. I just found out that she lost her battle with cancer, and will miss her presence greatly. RIP Jeannie.

I am now using a Bravo torch (just the inner flame in most of the videos), but in my older videos, I am using a Mega Minor torch.

Love your videos. Watched them all I think. Starting out with a Oxycon and a basic torch. Can you remember where you got your bead shaper from? We are so limited in UK!

Hi Jeannie. I'm a BIG fan. Just starting out but the problem Im having is getting the beads off the mandrel. I'm using Easy Bead-Off from Devardi where I but all my supplies. I soak them in warm water even over night and nope! Maybe you could suggest another release or advise on what I'm doing wrong. Thank you and keep doing these videos...Your my Muse. Teresa

Hi, I use Devardi bead off too. So basically what I've found (you probably have by now too lol) is that sometimes the bead off has tiny cracks in it so your bead will fuse to the rod instead of coming off. (Flower pot decorations now 🙃) if I catch it in time I will dunk it in my water dish and break it off the mandrel. But when that isn't the issue (99%of the time) and it just won't come off and I know it's not fused I'll soak it and then under running hot water I'll grab the bead with my hand and the mandrel with pilers right above or below and twist the bead really hard sometimes it doesn't work and I try to push it up or down to get water under it and the it might twist off. Just make sure the mandrel is still straight after or the next bead will be stuck as well. Sorry this is late but hopefully it helps.

I am using a Bravo torch in my recent videos (just using the center flame of it and on a concentrator). In my older videos, I am on a Nortel Minor.

The problem I seem to have with beads is getting them off the mandrel. Even after carefully following the instructions for coding the mandrels, they still stick and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Am I working the mandrel in the flame too much?

What type of bead release are you using? And sometimes, if the release cracks under your bead, it can fuse to the mandrel. Also, are you soaking your mandrels with the beads on them in warm/hot water. They should be soaked in water for at least a few minutes, and you should always use water when cleaning out the beads since the bead release dust is not good to inhale.
