Thank you so much Patsy for taking the time to find that link for me. I am eager to try my hand @ fuming, but safety first so I went online & purchased the 3M mask you recommended along with 2 pairs of extra filters. Please do continue your awesome teaching videos, I appreciate you sharing your experiences and love of glass with us! I was hoping that maybe you could do a thoroughly informative demo on a different silver glass & bead technique each week. That would be interesting & FUN!

Hi Patsy! Great Video! I have a question regarding your filtering mask. How often do you need to change out the side filters? Are the filters supposed to be changed out after each torching session when fuming? Does the frequency of exchanging the filters change with the medium your using (i.e. change the filters more often when exposed to enamels vs silver/gold fume)? Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions, & especially for making these informative videos.

Hi MrsChibikat, How often you change the filters depend on how much you use the mask. I'm putting a link to general info you can read about the filters that should help. It says when you have trouble breathing... that means it's clogged. I may not use mine for weeks, so it's hard to give a definite answer. The way I found the information is to put in "3M P100 2097 metals when to change" in the google search.

Patsy, where do you buy the rod that you use for silver fuming?
@PatsyEvins

Natalie, it's borosillicate or boro for short. Boro is hard glass like you would watch artists make figurines at Disney World or places with large furnaces. They make large pieces of art glass like bowls, glasses, etc. You can buy boro rods at any glass suppliers of soft and hard glass. I think I got mine at Frantz.

I can't put the link for information in comments...Check out Rio Grande to buy it. Click on my link in my description for more info. This filter is good for silica (glass) so that's enamels. Again... It says if you get odors or can't breathe. Let me know if this helps? :)
