I really enjoyed that I am trying to learn that reducing thing, I am learning all of it but I love the silver glasses, right now I am just using a hot head torch and map gas I am hooked....lol

Constance, you will get a totally different effect with a hothead. Hotheads produce a lot of reduction or soot on the bead. I started with a hothead. In fact, each torch you use will produce a different look. I have a minor burner that gets more reduction than my mini cc burner. This demo was with my min cc. Explore, observe and take notes. :)

Hi Katja, glad you're enjoying my video! The silver glass was Nyx by Double Helix that I pulled into a stringer.:)

A great video.... loved your relaxed approach to lampwork -- i.e. learn the rules then break them. What kind of colours did you get with the encased Terra Nova 2. It was hard difficult to see. I'm back to lampwork, after a 2 year hiatus, and am looking for more info on the Double Helix galsses.... I shall sign up for your blog also. Thanks for sharing your info. Gail

Gail, I love Terra Nova 2. You can get a rainbow of colors depending on how long you heat it, how many times you heat and cool it, how hot you heat it, where in the flame you heat it. Too long playing in a medium hot flame will get you browns and tans. If you don't like that, super heat it till it's molten and gooey, cool out of the flame and than slowly heat and you should have vivid rainbow colors again. I've been on a hiatus too for about 2 years helping to start an art league in my town and working with young school children and art. It's just a travesty for public schools to drop art!

Hello Patsy, what is the trick to putting the bead release on in the middle of the mandrel? Just dipping the whole thing in and then wiping the sides?
@PatsyEvins
@PatsyEvins 8 жыл бұрын
Nam, just dip one end of the mandrel in a water bottle filled with bead release up to where you want the bead release to start...slowly pull out...then remove the unwanted bead release by wiping down to the end of the mandrel with your fingers. A little messy but oh-so worth it. I usually do a bunch at a time.
