The last time I ever saw a SCRTD GM New Look in person, was in late 1992, it was subbing on line 212. I was so disappointed that it was not on line 40, which was much closer to my house.

I have some special memories of of the GM Old Look Bus and the very early 1980's model Grumman 870 however it also involves the Detroit 6v71 and 6v92 two stroke diesel engines. I had figured out how to imitate the six cylinder two stroke diesel engine in the bus with the automatic transmission shifting. I did that imitation in a talent show and had everyone laughing. Many who were watching and listening were crying, turning red in the face and were holding their sides.

I recall the mid to late 1950's model GM TDH 5105 along with the mid 1960's model GMC buses. They had character and style. Another of the familiar buses to me would be the GMC RTS II series. Still more are the Neoplans and the Grummans that were in service in the late 1980's and early 1990's I also have one really special set of memories with SCRTD that is absolutely hilarious. It goes with with riding the express lines such as line 480 and I used that to teach myself how to imitate a six cylinder two stroke diesel engine in a bus with the automatic transmission shifting.

So LA Metro really is MTA. I used to work OCTA under contracted means and I remember the announcement always referring to LA METRO Routes 460 and 660 as simply “MTA” when warning passengers of the transfer point at the Fullerton Park and Ride Transit Center. I was always confused because I thought MTA was only in New York. Apparently they’re also in San Deigo but instead go by “MTS” rather than MTA.

Just Curious? are there any clips of SCRTD's AM Generals... 8000-8100 series busses that were delivered I'm the fall of 77, as well of the M.A.N. 9200 series Articulated Busses, I haven't seen them in the collection? just the Flixibles & GM Busses.
