Thanks for the comparison. This clearly shows the differences..I'm afraid the new Dark Lilac is not for me. I don't like having so much sheen that the base color can hardly be seen.

It's funny, but LAMY has had an easily attainable purple ink called "Violet" for years, but it is only available in cartridges. I always wondered why they didn't just release that one in bottles to add a purple to their 'standard lineup.' Maybe it is now limited, but retailers just haven't run out of stock yet - 🤷🏾‍♀️ I bought a sample and found that I'm not a fan of the 2024 version of Dark Lilac. I love purple ink, but I'm not crazy about green sheen with them. A lot of beautiful purple inks have some green sheen, including the Violet mentioned above, but it usually only shows up on heavy swatches, and not so much in writing. The new Dark Lilac is a sheen monster; I mostly use TR paper and like wet writing pens so I can't even enjoy the underlying purple color.

I never liked Lamy Violet… it was too light for my tastes. 2016 Dark Lilac hit a great balance of a stunning base colour and a gentle hit of sheen. The 2024 Dark Lilac is definitely as sheen monster… and likewise, it’s not my thing… which is a shame because I don’t hate the base purple

I'm pretty happy about the new Dark Lilac; the old DL didn't seem particularly interesting to me, but the new one looks like a more cost effective version of Colorverse's "Pillars of Creation". 4.2 mL/$ vs 1.7mL/$ :)

I also like Monteverde and own most of your list. Of my 100 more or less bottle, two have spoiled, Monteverde Fire Opal, and Van Dieman’s Mandarin Duck Brest. Don’t know if is the ink or if I contaminated it in some manner. But, regardless I really enjoy both brands.

I am enjoying the new LAMY Lilac ink but it sheens way too much for me and is very dependent on the paper you use.
