I’m lying in bed silently crying over this song because I really do relate to it. My whole life I’ve tried to be a happy person even if I’m in pain. 'Carmen', originally an 1845 novel, features a beautiful black-haired gypsy woman in a red dress - an outcast isolated from her own culture of outcasts, and a symbol of exoticness, eroticism, mysticism, mystery and, above all, freedom (both involuntary, and self-fulfilled).
