People who were surprised that she married a reserved aligator tour guide from Louisiana who has 3 kids never saw this video,THIS is so Lana 😅 and I'm happy for her. Whenever this song came up on my spotify, I always end up here to watch the video and listen to the full song. The poetry, the message about freedom, being yourself, chasing your dreams. My favourite Lana song ever really ♥️

same. I got the "been tryin' hard not to get into trouble but I-, I got a war on my mind" tattooed on my rib. Honestly when I lost the love of my life, I just wanted quick love. It wasn't healthy but it felt good to just be wanted by someone. The healthy relationships I was in were not "him" or like "him" and I wasn't happy. This song just speaks to me and my early 20's. I traveled, camped in the desert, put myself in stupid situations. To me, this song is a reminder of a time that I was able to grow out of. All the lessons I learned. Sometimes when i'm feeling hurt even an episode of extreme manic feelings, I listen to this. I get my cry session over and live my best life.

Lana got criticised early on in her career because she was ahead of her time. Not everyone would understand the message and storytelling in this song but not everyone needs to. She creates art from ride to arcadia. It’s not something that’d go viral on tiktok and then be forgotten. Her art is timeless and it’ll be appreciated for decades to come.

No, she got criticised because some of her live shows went off key. She was flat and so radio shows were reluctant to have her for a while, for fear of a poor performance. Not hating, I love her songs, just stating the reason why she was criticised a lot back then.
@gabrielf4528

honestly, i like the vibe of some of her songs, but i feel very sorry for the life she had and i don't think it should be seen in a chromatic or pretty way. Evidently, she was drugged, looking for relationships with several men and freedom at any cost, due to problems in her life that she couldn't solve. It's sad to see the direction her life has taken, as well as that of many... There's nothing so beautiful and poetic about it, just a girl who got lost.

I remember the first time I saw this video was when I was 15 too (I'm 23 now) and I remember feeling the same way. and I can't explain it, but after seeing this video I changed and I really put it in on this video and Lana and how she is able to turn her sadness into power and her ability to not just accept life as it is, but to make it into something beautiful and is able to feel free in a society that likes to put labels on everyone. 2 years ago I saw Lana sing for the first time in real life and I wept the whole time because Lana and this song is the reason I am able to be the free person I am today. Sorry I know that was a-lot, but I remember when I was 15 and remember feeling as you do, and it is a beautiful feeling. xoxo.

Monologue: I was in the winter of my life And the men I met along the road were my only summer At night I fell asleep with visions of myself dancing and laughing and crying with them Three years down the line of being on an endless world tour and my memories of them were the only things that sustained me And my only real happy times I was a singer Not a very popular one I once had dreams of becoming a beautiful poet But upon an unfortunate series of events saw those dreams dashed and divided like a million stars in the night sky That I wished on over and over again, sparkling and broken But I didn’t really mind because I knew that it takes getting everything you ever wanted and then losing it to know what true freedom is When the people I used to know found out what I had been doing how I had been living, they asked me why, but there’s no use in talking to people who have a home They have no idea what its like to seek safety in other people For home to be wherever you lie your head I was always an unusual girl My mother told me that I had a chameleon soul No moral compass pointing due north No fixed personality Just an inner indecisiveness that was as wide and as wavering as the ocean And if I said I didn’t plan for it to turn out this way I’d be lying Because I was born to be the other woman Who belonged to no one Who belonged to everyone Who had nothing Who wanted everything With a fire for every experience and an obsession for freedom that terrified me to the point that I couldn’t even talk about it And pushed me to a nomadic point of madness that both dazzled and dizzied me

Don't leave me now Don't say good bye Don't turn around Leave me high and dry I hear the birds on the summer breeze, I drive fast, I am alone in midnight Been tryin' hard not to get into trouble, But I, I've got a war in my mind I just ride, just ride, I just ride, just ride I'm tired of feeling like I'm fucking crazy I'm tired of driving 'til I see stars in my eyes It's all I've got to keep myself sane, baby So I just ride, I just ride I hear the birds on the summer breeze, I drive fast, I am alone in midnight Been tryin' hard not to get into trouble, But I, I've got a war in my mind I just ride, just ride, I just ride, I just ride. *[Post-Song]* Every night I used to pray that I’d find my people And finally I did On the open road We had nothing to lose, nothing to gain, nothing we desired anymore Except to make our lives into a work of art Live fast Die young Be wild And have fun I believe in the country America used to be I believe in the person I want to become I believe in the freedom of the open road And my motto is the same as ever "I believe in the kindness of strangers" And when I'm at war with myself I ride I just ride Who are you? Are you in touch with all of your darkest fantasies? Have you created a life for yourself where you can experience them? I have I am fucking crazy *But I am free*

technically, this song is so difficult to sing. despite her having a lower vocal register, she (perfectly) changes pitch from low to high and to do this so smoothly without voice cracks is difficult. Her vocal talents are rlly overlooked.

A contralto is a type of classical female singing voice whose vocal range is the lowest female voice type. The contralto’s vocal range is fairly rare; similar to, but different from the alto, and almost identical to that of a countertenor. The contralto voice type is generally divided into the coloratura, lyric, and dramatic contralto.

Lana Del Rey is so unappreciated. She gets so much hate on her music because people accuse her of sending the wrong message to her young fans especially the girls, but really she's just a Women singing from her heart about how she feels. Being completely honest in her songs because it's probably the only time she can be. I just had a 40 minute break down over my own messy life and then I put this song on and I felt peace. That's something.

Nothing can ever top this. No song, no artist, not even Lana herself with another track. This song was so epic, so raw, so dreamy that it made a whole generation appreciate life just a tiny bit more and get a glimpse of what true freedom feels like. Every time I come back to this song I realize that I need to do everything it takes to be able to say one day..."I'm fucking crazy, but I'm free" and mean it.

TØP Lannister don’t let your demons eat you. You’re stronger than that. Pain is temporary, life is the longest thing you’ll ever experience. Savour it. Make it last, make it mean something. There is no “end it all”. Ending isn’t beautiful it’s broken, it’s an abyss. Andige gets tough, but through it all, through everything, there is something to look for. Life is beautiful. And painful. And that’s why it’s so great. Don’t let your demons drown you. Learn to swim above them. I promise, nothing will ever be worth ending your life for.

[Monologue] I was in the winter of my life And the men that I met along the road were my only summer. At night, I fell asleep with visions of myself Dancing and laughing and crying with them. Three years down the line of being on an endless world tour And my memories of them were the only things that Substained me and my only real happy times. I was a singer, not a very popular one, Who one had dreams of becoming a beautiful poet - But upon an unfortunate series of events Saw those dreams dashed And divided like a millions stars in the night sky That I wished on over and over again - sparkling and broken. But I didn't really mind because I knew That it takes getting everything You ever wanted and then losing it To know what true freedom is. When the people I used to know Found out what I had been doing How I had been living - they asked me why. But there's no use in talking to people who have a home, They have no idea what it's like to seek safety I In other people, For home to be wherever you lie your head. I was always an unusual girl, My mother told me I had a chameleon soul. No morall compass pointing due north, no fixed personality. Just an inner indecisiveness That was as wide and as wavering as the ocean. And if I said that I didn't plan For it to turn out this was, I'd be lying Because I was born to be the other woman. I belong to no one - who belonged to everyone, Who had nothing, who wanted everything With a fire for every experience And an obsession for freedom that terrified me to the point I couldn't even talk about And pushed me to a nomatic point Of madness that both dazzled and dizzied me. Every night I used to pray that I'd find my people - And finally I did - on the open road. We had nothing to lose, nothing to gain Nothing we desired anymore - Except to make our lives into a work of art. Live fast. Die young. Be wild, and have fun I believe in the country America used to be. I believe in the person I want to become. I believe in the freedom of the open road. And my motto is the same as ever - I believe in the kindness of strangers. And when I'm at war with myself - I ride. I just ride. Who are you? Are you in touch with all your darkest fantasies? Have you created a life for yourself where you're free to experience them? I have! I am fucking crazy, but I am free!

8 YEARS and I'm still not over this song, I never will. No words can describe the emotions it makes me feel. Maybe because I've always romanticized that "riding free" lifestyle as well, and fantasized about finding my people... people that I would really bond with and go on an open road adventure, having fun, feeling timeless, wild and free, and feeling home.

I’m your people and your mine. We were all meant to be each others maybe not on the exact note as one another but as a whole we could all be the beautiful symphony created specifically for the defining of each individual note and blending us all together into a sound so pure and perfect that even the angels in heaven cry. As a whole we are all perfect as single entities we are but a flute minus the breath. I don’t know if anyone will get my drift but I can only hope that one person needing to hear this will know that I am searching too, searching for my people. Just let go of the restrictions of society and give in to abandon and there we will find each other. Until then my friend....... live fast die young and be free..... xoxo

Im 43 years old. A 20 year veteran and this song makes me weak. Its so powerful and moving. I lost my mom to cancer in 2018 while I was overseas doing combat support. We werent close but we were able to have one last phone call and I had a nervous breakdown from sleep dep when I got back to the United States. This song takes me through loss, love, and the enduring message of "its going to be ok" I hope you guys love it as much as I do. - Rob in San Diego.

I remember hearing this song in my early 20s when I was dancin at clubs for money.. I felt so empty and alone. My family didn’t know what I was doin.. and I was goin to college during the day. That was the only way to get my degree but it was seriously depressin. Now I have a job I love and while I work more hrs and make less money I feel so happy and finally at peace with myself. I’d never tell anyone that phase of my life tho and it still brings me a few tears when I remember those days.💔❤️ PS: Thank you guys for reading my comment❤️ I just wanted to get it out my chest some way!and to whoever feels the same way I did.. Be strong you are NOT Alone!! And dont give up on your goals!💕

MONOLOGUE I was in the winter of my life And the men I met along the road were my only summer At night I fell asleep with visions of myself dancing and laughing and crying with them Three years down the line of being on an endless world tour And my memories of them were the only things that sustained me And my only real happy times I was a singer, not a very popular one I once had dreams of becoming a beautiful poet But upon an unfortunate series of events Saw those dreams dashed and divided like a million stars in the night sky That I wished on over and over again, sparkling and broken But I didn't really mind because I knew that It takes getting everything you ever wanted And then losing it to know what true freedom is When the people I used to know found out what I had been doing How I had been living, they asked me why But there's no use in talking to people who have a home They have no idea what its like to seek safety in other people For home to be wherever you lie your head I was always an unusual girl My mother told me that I had a chameleon soul No moral compass pointing me due north No fixed personality Just an inner indecisiveness that was as wide and as wavering as the ocean And if I said I didn't plan for it to turn out this way I'd be lying Because I was born to be the other woman Who belonged to no one, who belonged to everyone Who had nothing, who wanted everything With a fire for every experience and an obsession for freedom That terrified me to the point that I couldn't even talk about it And pushed me to a nomadic point of madness that both dazzled and dizzied me Every night I used to pray that I'd find my people And finally I did On the open road We had nothing to lose, nothing to gain, nothing we desired anymore Except to make our lives into a work of art Live fast Die young Be wild And have fun I believe in the country America used to be I believe in the person I want to become I believe in the freedom of the open road And my motto is the same as ever "I believe in the kindness of strangers" And when I'm at war with myself I ride I just ride Who are you? Are you in touch with all of your darkest fantasies? Have you created a life for yourself where you can experience them? I have I am fucking crazy But I am free

“My mother told me I had a chameleon soul, no moral compass pointing due north, no fixed personality; just an inner indecisiveness that was as wide and as wavering as the ocean.” I’ve loved Lana for what she’s written as a poet and the aspects of her story I see in myself, but this truly exemplifies how she puts to words to problems I feel that I see no one else describe.

I relate to her too because my dad as well called me a chameleon. I become whoever I feel the safest with and that’s who I am. I’m not a specific person, I change as does the ocean. Yes, I have interests, and yes I have a personality, but it is ever changing as is the ocean and every living day. I love Lana for the same reasons. We relate in that way. I love her music. It feels free, it feels like summer (where I’m most alone and most myself), and it feels like me.

After my parents divorced my mom was partying doing her thing so i lived with my dad. When i was 10 he went to work one day and never came back. He left me at my grandma's who was in early dementia. She would chase me with a knife cuz she thought i was an intruder. My dad never came back. He met someone, moved 3 hours away and started his own family. So mom left me, my dad left me and i had absolutely nobody. At 17 i was on my own and have been ever since. Several years ago, i was homeless & on the streets because i was in a severely abusive relationship and he was going to kill me Sooner or later. So i grabbed what i could carry and left everything else behind and left while he went to the store. It was my only chance to escape from him and the hell i was living in. Being homeless I soon realized the only person who had my back was myself. It's something i would never wish on anyone. Not even my worst enemy. It can happen to anyone . So appreciate what you have and don't take ANYTHING FOR GRANTED cuz in the blink of an eye, it all could be gone.

[Spoken introduction:] I was in the winter of my life, and the men I met along the road were my only summer. At night I fell asleep with visions of myself, dancing and laughing and crying with them. Three years down the line of being on an endless world tour, and my memories of them were the only things that sustained me, and my only real happy times. I was a singer. Not a very popular one, I once had dreams of becoming a beautiful poet, but upon an unfortunate series of events saw those dreams dashed and divided like a million stars in the night sky that I wished on over and over again, sparkling and broken. But I didn't really mind because I knew that it takes getting everything you ever wanted, and then losing it to know what true freedom is. When the people I used to know found out what I had been doing, how I'd been living, they asked me "Why?", but there's no use in talking to people who have home. They have no idea what it's like to seek safety in other people, for home to be wherever you lay your head. I was always an unusual girl. My mother told me I had a chameleon soul, no moral compass pointing due north, no fixed personality; just an inner indecisiveness that was as wide and as wavering as the ocean... And if I said I didn't plan for it to turn out this way I'd be lying... Because I was born to be the other woman. Who belonged to no one, who belonged to everyone. Who had nothing, who wanted everything, with a fire for every experience and an obsession for freedom that terrified me to the point that I couldn't even talk about it, and pushed me to a nomadic point of madness that both dazzled and dizzied me. [Verse 1] I've been out on that open road You can be my full time daddy, white and gold Singing blues has been getting old But you can be my full time baby, hot or cold [Pre-Chorus 1] Don't break me down I've been traveling too long I've been trying too hard With one pretty song [Chorus] I hear the birds on the summer breeze I drive fast, I am alone at midnight Been trying hard not to get into trouble But I, I've got a war in my mind So, I just ride, just ride I just ride, I just ride [Verse 2] Dying young and playing hard That's the way my father made his life an art Drink all day and we talk 'til dark That’s the way the road dogs do it Light ‘til dark [Pre-Chorus 2] Don't leave me now Don't say goodbye Don't turn around Leave me high and dry [Chorus] I hear the birds on the summer breeze I drive fast, I am alone at midnight Been trying hard not to get into trouble But I, I've got a war in my mind I just ride, just ride I just ride, I just ride [Bridge] I'm tired of feeling like I'm fucking crazy I'm tired of driving 'til I see stars in my eyes It's all I've got to keep myself sane, baby So I just ride, I just ride [Chorus] Hear the birds on the summer breeze I drive fast, I am alone at midnight Been trying hard not to get into trouble But I, I've got a war in my mind I just ride, just ride I just ride, I just ride [Spoken ending:] Every night I used to pray that I'd find my people, and finally I did on the open road. We had nothing to lose, nothing to gain, nothing we desired anymore, except to make our lives into a work of art. Live fast. Die young. Be wild. And have fun. I believe in the country America used to be. I believe in the person I want to become. I believe in the freedom of the open road. And my motto is the same as ever: "I believe in the kindness of strangers. And when I'm at war with myself I ride, I just ride." Who are you? Are you in touch with all of your darkest fantasies? Have you created a life for yourself where you can experience them? I have. I am fucking crazy. But I am free.

Junebug I was thinking the same.......the only mistake in the description is that it makes it seem that ‘Lust For Life’ came out in 2012, but it really was 2017.....

I used to watch this during my sleepless nights and cry because I was afraid of going to school the next day and this song would make me feel okay for just a moment. I was 14 when this was released and I’m 23 now, listening to this at midnight because I’m afraid of tomorrow and I just need a moment of peace again.
