Upon my first listen of ‘White Dress’ I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about it in all honesty simply for the “men in the music business conference” part feeling so rushed sonically, but I read in her Music Week interview that she said the song happened by chance, Jack Antonoff was playing some piano chords and she stepped up to the mic and improvised the whole song which is pretty cool I think, especially when the only modifications they made to it were layered vocals🤟🏽 Made me appreciate the song much more!

On the production of the track, Del Rey went on to say “I didn’t even think to go back and fix it because if you know the story behind it, then you can tell why it was sung that way.”[1] On June 21, 2014 she was asked by NPR about the song and went further about the composition of it, saying "The way you heard it recorded is the way I freestyled it. It’s pathetic that she still hasn’t won a Grammy. She should have won for NFR! The Grammy’s have to be rigged based on popularity or you buy your wins. It’s a joke, she’s been around for 10 years and had multiple critically acclaimed albums, the highest rated album of her’s being NFR released 8 years into her career if almost unheard of. Her cultural impact is undeniable. If this album isn’t nominated for a Grammy it’s criminal. How many awards can you give to Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish. No slam i like them both just saying. @the_relm3 жыл бұрын
I think what makes Yosemite an admirable song is its simplicity. Its supposed to be a stripped down, only-in-her-head type of song as you can imagine her smiling at herself and the style reminded me of Mazzy Star. And it's a milestone too, judging from the darker tones of her previous work before Lust for Life. Speaking of Lust For Life, Yosemite was actually intended to fit into the album, but Lana thought it was 'too happy' and she wasn't quite there yet. And we saw that in L4L, that in Get Free, she was then finally taking control over her own happiness. Yosemite to me was an instant catch, because I know Lana too well

also, idk if u knew but yosemite was meant to be on lust for life but she scrapped it because she was singing about happiness she didn't actually feel. so the fact that she decided to put it on this album signifies that she finally found the happiness she is describing on the song. Personally I love its simplicity and I see the "dinosaur roar", as you called it, as a subtle throwback to her born to die days as she used that sound in a lot of her songs back then.

you need to listen to one of the featured artists’ album (Weyes Blood). her record Titanic Rising is the highest rated female album on Metacritic last 2019, and is definitely one of the best albums of that year. the production sounded so elegant, and Natalie’s songwriting is great. i can’t wait for you to experience Movies. literally the best song I’ve ever heard

Jon, you 're the person whose reaction to this album i was waiting to see the most! 5:13 - "It's so late August" - these are exactly my thoughts! The whole album for me represents late August with its evenings, an upcoming autumn melancholy, yet with its warm days when we (me and my friends/family) gather together and spend a quality time in the countryside

my top 4 of this album: 1. dark but just a game 2. chemtrails over the country club 3. breaking up slowly 4. white dress i am actually really impressed with this album - love it

I really loved the album. It's folk, jazzy and more. It reminded me some songs of Born to die and Honneymoon, also some unreleased songs. That vibe of gangsta Nancy Sinatra that she used to have. And I loved your reaction too

I would love to see you reacting to her live performances and unreleased songs (if you can) after this, there are some real hidden gems that haven’t been out in the world when they should be! Also side note: I don’t know if anyone else feels the same but you can sometimes tell when her songs were written by the names she uses (e.g. Bill, John, Jerry, Joan, Norman, Joe). The deeper you go the more you know 😂♥️

I love the album more then i thought i would. However, i do hope she releases a more upbeat album (aka BTD/Paradise) with some of her unreleased songs. Like it would be a crime if You Can Be The Boss, Yes to Heaven, Hollywood and Angels Forever are never going to be released. Think it would also kind of break that chain of her having more mellow songs lately. Cause let’s be real Born to Die is still her most popular album. It made her. Why won’t she return to that sound? Makes me wonder. Even just for one album.
@umang76583 жыл бұрын
I get where you come from but she has said that already that she is just not that person anymore and doesn't care about the numbers anymore much and wants to release what she feels she wants to put forward at the moment so I don't think she'll return to BTD songs now and as a lana fan I hope you respect where she comes from
