OLD MONEY. Brooklyn Baby (Lou Reed was supposed to sing with her, but he died ! So the producer (one of The Black Keys band members) sang it with her instead. Lana is very 60s and 70s oriented... You got it !!! I don't know how much you know about Lana... but she has been sober since she was a teen (except marijuana). She was from a very upscale area and a teenage Catholic schoolgirl who was a total alcoholic... went to rehab. Went to Fordham... dropped out. Went to NYC and NJ and was a drug counselor for runaway teens. Is a Bruce Springsteen fanatic. And a Jim Morrison fanatic... a lot of Lana is a creation... she's been there, done that, and she writes for people going through it. In some ways it seems glamorous, and a lot of younger females don't seem to hear the sadness... or they think it's just always gonna be that way... I love this album, and Lana... but I think she knows a lot about music that most people don't... she knows who Nancy Sinatra and Dusty Springfield were !!! Love your reviews, you are always honest about how it's hitting you !!!

Born to Die is definitely her best. It's classic Lana! But Ultraviolence has such a uniqueness not only in the music industry in general, but also in her own discography. No other album of hers is even close to being similar. She's constantly evolving. Love your reactions

swansong🕊 How do you know she’s being sarcastic?
@TerryHarbor5 жыл бұрын
fear fucked my way up to the top is most likely sarcastic since she has said in an interview that besides the fact that she has slept with a lot of guys in the music industry, none of them helped her with her record deals

fear people say she only got her fame bc of her rich dad and, you know, so she made a song that everyone that doesn’t like her would use against her but everyone else knows she’s being sarcastic lol

I think the use of drug references is also a reference to her appreciation of the 1950's/1960's era and the famous people who she references in her songs and who she looks up to in real life.
